Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police monitor traffic with flycam on September 2nd holiday

During the four-day September 2 holiday, Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police deployed many measures to ensure smooth traffic, strictly handle violations, and prevent congestion and accidents.

On August 29, the Traffic Police Department (PC08), Ho Chi Minh City Police Department informed about the work of ensuring traffic order and safety during the National Day holiday, September 2.

It is forecasted that during this long holiday, the number of people and vehicles will increase dramatically. In response to this situation, the Traffic Police of Ho Chi Minh City Public Security has developed and deployed many synchronous plans, focusing on patrolling, controlling, and regulating traffic flow at key routes and areas where traffic congestion often occurs.

Deployment of troops, application of technology for monitoring

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department (PC08), Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that from 2:00 p.m. on August 29, units under PC08 will simultaneously deploy to ensure traffic order and safety throughout the area.

Along with the direct task force, PC08 deploys technological measures such as smart cameras and flycams to monitor traffic situations and support quick handling of incidents and violations.

Along with that, Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police will focus on handling violations with high risk of causing accidents such as: Violating alcohol concentration, using drugs while driving, speeding, carrying more people than prescribed, entering prohibited roads, not having a driver's license...

Traffic police will be present regularly in key areas with high risk of congestion to direct and regulate traffic and assist people in moving smoothly. At the same time, task forces will increase patrols to detect and promptly handle illegal racing gatherings and public disorder.

PC08 also closely coordinates with ward and commune police and youth volunteer forces to develop specific combat plans, arrange 24/7 on-duty forces, quickly handle arising situations, and ensure a safe holiday.

Remote traffic control to avoid congestion before, during and after September 2nd holiday

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Head of Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, informed that the upgrading of Binh Trieu 1 Bridge is expected to last about three months. PC08 has deployed a plan to deploy forces, remote traffic flow and guide alternative routes to limit local congestion.

According to PC08, the traffic diversion plan has been widely announced through official information channels. People are advised to follow the traffic diversion information and choose the appropriate route before traveling to ensure a safe and convenient journey.

Along with that, the traffic police force also requires people to strictly comply with traffic safety laws, especially at intersections and blind spots to ensure safety for themselves and the community.

Also according to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Binh, on the evening of September 2, PC08 will coordinate with functional units to deploy forces at four fireworks display locations in the city to ensure security and order and traffic flow, avoiding congestion in the event area.

After 2 p.m. on September 2, PC08 continued to control the peak traffic situation after the holiday. It is forecasted that the number of people returning to Ho Chi Minh City will increase sharply, causing a high risk of congestion at gateways and main roads.

Traffic police will be deployed at hotspots such as: Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway; Cat Lai Port; Tan Van intersection and national highways and toll stations at the city gateway.

In addition to traffic regulation, the authorities will increase patrols and strictly handle traffic violations to ensure people return to work and study after the holiday safely and smoothly.
