To prevent the air from being contaminated with toxic smoke and pungent odors from entering the house, for many months now, Ms. Le Thi Huyen, who lives in building C, Wesbay apartment building, has had to keep her child locked in a closed room. Outside of school hours, the children's daily activities and playtime are confined to a narrow space. Ms. Huyen said indignantly: "When I first moved to Ecopark urban area, after every tiring working hour, I just wanted to return to my apartment as quickly as possible to immerse myself in nature, but recently, the air in this urban area is no longer truly fresh. Especially in the evening, the strong pungent odor surrounds the residents..."
Mr. Le Khanh Viet, who lives in the R3 building of Swanlake apartment complex, had to spend more than 200 million VND to install an air filtration system. Sharing the same frustration, Mr. Viet said: “Currently, the air in the Ecoaprk urban area is at a high alarming level. According to recent air quality measuring devices, the AQI (air quality index) has reached the threshold warning of health hazards, far exceeding the safe level. often at the threshold of 200-450".

According to residents, air pollution in Ecopark urban area may originate from the plastic recycling village in Minh Khai hamlet, Nhu Quynh town; the lead recycling village in Dong Mai hamlet, Chi Dao commune (Van Lam) and some garbage collection points in the communes: Xuan Quan, Vinh Khuc (Van Giang)... In Minh Khai hamlet, large bundles of nylon, pineapple sacks, plastic pipes, used plastic bottles and jars are piled high on both sides of the road and in every corner of the hamlet.
Mr. Do Duc Doan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhu Quynh town (Van Lam) said: Currently, the entire Minh Khai village has over 900 establishments and households participating in production, of which nearly 500 households produce in residential areas... The amount of waste generated and accumulated in the craft village is about 30 thousand tons. Therefore, pollution is threatening the lives of the townspeople and surrounding areas...
According to Decision No. 64/QD-TTg dated April 22, 2003 of the Prime Minister , Minh Khai plastic recycling village is on the list of facilities causing serious environmental pollution.

Since 2022, hundreds of residents of Ecopark urban area have submitted petitions to the authorities of Hung Yen province and the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control, Ministry of Public Security , requesting the People's Committees of Nhu Quynh town and Van Lam district to coordinate in handling the air pollution problem, but up to now, this situation has not been completely resolved...
Recently, the People's Committee of Hung Yen province held a meeting to deploy the inspection plan at industrial clusters and scrap recycling villages in the province. The delegation will focus on inspecting the compliance with environmental laws and strictly handling businesses, organizations and individuals that violate the law.
Previously, the Standing Committee of Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee issued a document requesting to thoroughly handle environmental pollution in the above craft villages before September 30, 2025.
Hopefully, through inspection, the authorities will soon rectify the situation. environmental pollution in craft villages, ensuring fresh air for local people and neighboring areas.
