On the morning of July 25th, at the National Funeral Home – No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street (Hanoi), and simultaneously at the Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City) and his hometown of Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district (Hanoi), the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the family solemnly held the memorial service for Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , according to the national funeral protocol.
In a moment of profound emotion and sorrow, from early morning, delegations from the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, departments, and agencies, officials and soldiers of the armed forces, along with a large number of people from the capital and many provinces and cities across the country, gathered at the National Funeral Home – No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong ( Hanoi ) to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong – a leader who made many great and outstanding contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
At the National Funeral Home, the memorial service for Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was held in a solemn and moving atmosphere.
Placed in the most prominent position, in the center of the ceremonial platform, the coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was draped with the bright red national flag.
On the platform was the national flag bordered with a black ribbon, prominently displaying the words "Deeply mourning Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam" and a portrait of him.
To the somber tune of "The Soul of the Fallen Soldier," at exactly 7 o'clock, the solemn memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was held.
With profound sorrow, the delegation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Comrade To Lam, Member of the Political Bureau and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, paid their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and offered condolences to his family.
With profound sorrow over the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Government delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, led by Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, paid their respects and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
With profound sorrow over the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the delegation of the Presidency of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, led by Comrade To Lam, Member of the Political Bureau and President of the Republic, paid their respects and offered condolences to the family.

A delegation from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, led by Comrade Do Van Chien, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, paid their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and offered condolences to his family.
Among those who came to pay their respects and offer condolences to the family of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Vo Van Thuong; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former Chairmen of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and Vuong Dinh Hue, along with many other current and former leaders of the Party and State.
Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front circled the coffin, emotionally bidding farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong – an exceptionally outstanding leader, a shining example of studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, a steadfast communist party member with great prestige in the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, fully embodying the qualities, talents, courage, and wisdom of the generation of Vietnamese leaders in the đổi mới (renovation) period.
With profound sorrow, Politburo member and President To Lam wrote in the condolence book: “We deeply mourn the passing of Comrade General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong – a beloved son of the Vietnamese nation, an exceptionally outstanding leader, a steadfast communist party member, a shining example of constantly studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, a man of great prestige in the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, a great friend of the people of the world; a man who dedicated his entire life, wholeheartedly and devotedly, to the country, to the Party, and to the people; who made many great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, to the international communist movement, and to maintaining peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.”
With profound respect, we bow before the spirit of our comrade, and pledge to learn from and emulate him, wholeheartedly and diligently serving the Fatherland and the people, uniting and striving to successfully achieve the goal of building a peaceful, independent, unified, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam, a goal that he cherished and sacrificed his entire life for.
"The name, career, character, and immense contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are deeply etched in the hearts of the people, and his name will forever be remembered in the glorious history of the civilized and heroic Vietnamese nation."

At the same time, a solemn memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was held at the Reunification Hall (Ho Chi Minh City) and in Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi – the hometown of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
At the Reunification Hall (Ho Chi Minh City), numerous delegations from ministries, departments, organizations, and localities in the Southern region, as well as people from all walks of life, paid their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
A delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, led by Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, paid their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An, along with former leaders of the Party, State, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Ho Chi Minh City, paid their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Next, delegations from the Central Party Office; the Government Office; the National Assembly Office in the South; the Ministry of National Defense, the Command of Military Regions 5, 7, and 9 and other branches; and the Ministry of Public Security in the South paid their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
At the Lai Da Village Cultural Center Hall, Dong Hoi Commune, Dong Anh District, Hanoi City, delegations from the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; local departments, agencies, and organizations; and a large number of people came to pay their respects and express their deep sorrow for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding son of Dong Hoi.
Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Central Military Commission, was born on April 14, 1944; his hometown is Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi city; his permanent residence is at house number 5, Thien Quang street, Nguyen Du ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi city. He joined the workforce in 1967 and became a Party member in December 1967.
Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Member of the Politburo for the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; participated in the Standing Committee of the Politburo for the 8th term; Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 11th and 12th terms; General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2016-2021 term; Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council; Secretary of the Central Military Commission; Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Public Security Party Committee; Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena.
Member of the National Assembly for the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th terms.
After a period of illness, despite the dedicated care and treatment from the Party, the State, a team of professors, doctors, and leading experts, and the devoted care of his family, due to his advanced age and severe illness, he passed away at 1:38 PM on July 19, 2024 (corresponding to the 14th day of the 6th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon) at the Central Military Hospital 108, at the age of 80. Nearly 60 years of service, he made numerous great and outstanding contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Comrade was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 55-Year Party Membership Badge, and many other prestigious medals and awards from Vietnam and internationally by the Party and the State. His passing is a great loss to the Party, the State, our people, and his family.
The memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will take place from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM on July 25, 2024, and from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM on July 26, 2024.
