As part of the activities in response to the event, from June 1-8, the Management Board of Cu Lao Cham Nature Reserve (Cu Lao Cham Nature Reserve Management Board) will organize a painting exhibition at the Cu Lao Cham Media Center.
The exhibition will showcase paintings, photographs, and visual materials on marine environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and the role of the community and tourists in preserving the ecosystem of Cu Lao Cham. Through this, it aims to spread the message of environmental protection, reduce plastic waste, and raise community awareness during the 2026 Environmental Action Month.

Along with the art exhibition, the Management Board of Cu Lao Cham Nature Reserve organized communication activities and signed commitments to implement the campaign "Tourists and fishermen bring waste back to shore"; at the same time, they deployed visual propaganda content to make it easy for people, tourists and service establishments to understand, remember and implement.
The goal of the campaign is to cultivate the habit of not littering in the sea and to prevent waste generation from tourism and fishing activities. Instead, waste should be collected, stored, and brought ashore for proper disposal.
The messages focus on specific behaviors such as not littering in the sea, reducing plastic waste, bringing waste back to shore, and working together to protect the marine ecosystem of Cu Lao Cham.
In addition to communication activities, on June 4-5, the Management Board of Cu Lao Cham Nature Reserve and the Farmers' Association of Tan Hiep commune organized beach cleanup, collected waste in the coral reef area, and continued to collect crown-of-thorn starfish in the reef areas. These are concrete activities aimed at reducing pressure on the marine ecosystem and protecting coral reefs, which are the habitat, breeding grounds, and feeding sites of many marine species.
The campaign "Tourists and Fishermen Bring Waste Ashore" is not only an activity in response to the Month of Action for the Environment, World Environment Day, World Ocean Day, and Vietnam's Sea and Islands Week. More importantly, this activity aims to build responsible behavior towards the sea and islands, so that every visit and every fishing trip contributes to preserving the environment, protecting the ecosystem, and maintaining sustainable livelihoods for the community of Cu Lao Cham.

Cu Lao Cham Island is located in the core area of the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve, home to a rich ecosystem of forests, coral reefs, seagrass beds, and abundant marine resources.
With its rich history and culture, Cu Lao Cham possesses great potential for developing sustainable ecotourism, resort, and entertainment. These values not only create unique biodiversity but are also directly linked to community livelihoods, ecotourism activities, and the sustainable development orientation of the locality.
Over the years, Cu Lao Cham has implemented many impactful environmental protection solutions such as "Say no to plastic bags," "Say no to plastic straws," minimizing single-use plastic products, sorting waste at source, and activities to clean beaches, seabeds, and coral reefs.
The "Tourists and Fishermen Bring Waste Ashore" campaign is a continuation of these programs, focusing on translating awareness into concrete actions in daily life, tourism, and fisheries.
The communication activities, in response to the campaign "Tourists and fishermen bring waste ashore," implemented by the Management Board of Cu Lao Cham Nature Reserve in coordination with the Tan Hiep Commune Farmers' Association, carry a practical and urgent message, targeting groups that directly use the marine and island space of Cu Lao Cham.
The campaign targets not only fishermen, service businesses, passenger transport companies operating the Cua Dai - Cu Lao Cham route, travel agencies, and the local community, but also tourists – those who accompany them on every trip and contribute to the sustainable development of local tourism. These are the forces that play a crucial role in minimizing plastic waste, protecting the landscape, marine ecosystem, and the green image of Cu Lao Cham as a destination.

On May 28th, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued the Regulations on the Management of Cu Lao Cham Nature Reserve. This is an important legal basis for strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of state management; conserving biodiversity; protecting forest, marine, and environmental resources; and guiding the rational use of natural ecosystems within the reserve.
