On weekends, many anglers from all over come to the floating village to fish for recreation.

Currently, many fishermen on Ong Ho islet raise tilapia for export, with prices ranging from 45,000 to 50,000 VND per kilogram.

Viewed from above, Ong Ho islet looks like a stunning blue diamond in the middle of the Hau River.

The floating villages stretching along the Hau River are the province's premier freshwater fish farming area.

Every year, fishermen on Ong Ho islet supply thousands of tons of various types of fish to the domestic market and the Kingdom of Cambodia.
For a long time, the people of Ong Ho islet have lived a simple and peaceful life, like the flow of the Mekong River. Throughout the year, they adapt to the tides to develop their economy through aquaculture and fishing. On Ong Ho islet, rows of fish cages stand close together, creating a prosperous rural landscape amidst the Hau River. Today, the model of fish farming on the islet is thriving, with over 560 cages. Fishermen are increasingly raising fish such as tilapia, red snapper, tilapia, catfish, and other species on these floating rafts.
Over 10 years ago, most fishermen raised catfish and basa fish in cages for export, but this was ineffective due to fluctuating prices. Now, recognizing the domestic market demand, fishermen have boldly switched to raising other types of fish, bringing stable income, and many households have become prosperous. The fish from Ong Ho islet are not only in high demand at Long Xuyen market but also distributed throughout the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta and wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City, and exported to Cambodia.
Leaving this peaceful island, I suddenly remembered the folk verse, "Every evening, the crow tells the kite, Ong Ho Island has plenty of fish and shrimp," reflecting the abundance of this alluvial land during the pioneering era. Even today, whenever the flood season arrives, Ong Ho Island remains plentiful with shrimp and fish.
