The Asian Cycling Championships will take place from June 7 to 13 in Rayong, Thailand. The tournament will be divided into three categories: professional, U23 (19-22 years old) and youth (17-18 years old).
This morning, June 8, racer Nguyen Thi Be Hong participated in the women's individual time trial event. The racers competed on a 15km route and Be Hong excellently won the gold medal. This is an outstanding achievement for the girl from Dong Thap because in this event in 2022, she only won the bronze medal.
Hong is 18 years old this year, a student of former racer Mai Cong Hieu - the one-time "individual time trial king" of Vietnamese cycling. Mai Cong Hieu is currently the head coach of the Vietnamese youth cycling team.
Besides Be Hong, Vietnam participated in the tournament with 21 members, including 15 racers, five coaches and one team leader. Of the 21 members, 14 were participating with state funding, the remaining 7 members were participating with social funding.

Vietnam will compete for 12 sets of medals in two individual time trial and road events in three categories. The team's cyclists include Nguyen Hoang Sang, Nguyen Tuan Vu, Quang Van Cuong, Tang Quy Trong, Tran Khanh Duy, Pham Le Xuan Loc, Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, Tran Thi Thuy Trang, Lam Thi Thuy Duong, Nguyen Thi Be Hong, Thach Thi Ngoc Thao, Quach Thi Phuong Thanh, Tran Huynh Anh Van.
According to experts, male racers will find it difficult to achieve high results, but female racers have a good chance of winning medals. Among them, racer Nguyen Thi That is expected to win the gold medal in the women's mass start event on June 12. With a 109km long race route and flat road, it is a great opportunity for Nguyen Thi That to repeat her championship achievements in 2018 and 2022.
