The Asian Cycling Championships will take place from June 7th to 13th in Rayong, Thailand. The competition is divided into three categories: professional, U23 (19-22 years old), and youth (17-18 years old).

This morning, June 8th, cyclist Nguyen Thi Be Hong participated in the women's individual time trial. The cyclists competed on a 15km route, and Be Hong excellently won the gold medal. This is a remarkable achievement for the girl from Dong Thap province , as in this event in 2022, she only won a bronze medal.

Hong, 18 years old this year, is a student of former cyclist Mai Cong Hieu – once the "king of individual time trials" in Vietnamese cycling. Currently, Mai Cong Hieu is the head coach of the Vietnamese national youth cycling team.

Besides Bé Hồng, Vietnam is participating in the competition with 21 members, including 15 racers, five coaches, and a team leader. Of the 21 members, 14 are participating with state funding, while the remaining 7 are participating with funding from private sources.

Vietnam will compete for 12 sets of medals in two events: individual time trial and road race, across three competition categories. The team's cyclists include Nguyen Hoang Sang, Nguyen Tuan Vu, Quang Van Cuong, Tang Quy Trong, Tran Khanh Duy, Pham Le Xuan Loc, Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, Tran Thi Thuy Trang, Lam Thi Thuy Duong, Nguyen Thi Be Hong, Thach Thi Ngoc Thao, Quach Thi Phuong Thanh, and Tran Huynh Anh Van.

According to experts, male cyclists are unlikely to achieve high results, but female cyclists have a strong chance of winning medals. Among them, cyclist Nguyen Thi That is expected to win the gold medal in the women's mass start event on June 12th. With a 109km long and flat race route, this presents a great opportunity for Nguyen Thi That to repeat her championship achievements from 2018 and 2022.
