In the aviation industry, where flights last for hours, schedules are unpredictable, and work pressure is ever-present, there are still love stories that blossom and endure.

One of those beautiful stories is that of the pilot couple from Vietnam Airlines , Do Minh Duc (born in 1988) and Ngo Gia Han (born in 1998). Together, they have written a journey of love, sharing their passion for the sky and flying.

A turning point, a fateful encounter in life.

Before becoming a pilot, Minh Duc spent seven years as a flight attendant at Vietnam Airlines, while Gia Han studied architecture. However, their shared love of the sky led them both down different paths. Duc decided to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot, while Gia Han – with her passion for exploring the vast expanse of clouds – didn't hesitate to abandon her old career.

They first met at the Bay Viet pilot training school – where they both began their journey to conquer the skies.

They first met at the Bay Viet pilot training school – where they both began their journey to conquer the skies. From intense training days and stressful tests to overcoming challenges together, they gradually became close companions. When they went to the US for basic pilot training, their friendship grew even stronger through extended training flights and navigating through harsh weather conditions.

Initially, they only saw each other as colleagues and like-minded friends. But after returning to Vietnam and joining Vietnam Airlines, their feelings for each other gradually blossomed. Sharing the same sky, passions, and challenges, they realized that the other was their perfect match. A year later, at the end of 2022, they officially tied the knot, embarking on a new journey, not only in the sky but also in life.

The friendship between Gia Han and Minh Duc grew stronger through long training flights and times piloting aircraft through harsh weather conditions.

Same industry, same profession – Understanding and sharing

As colleagues and life partners, they have the opportunity to understand each other's work pressures. Because they are both pilots, they easily share and empathize with the difficulties of the job, from long, tiring flights to stressful moments in the cockpit. "We can talk about airplanes, the sky, and the airports we've visited day after day without getting bored," Gia Han shared.

One of their fondest memories is their time as pilot trainees in the United States. During that time, they not only diligently studied and trained together but also had the opportunity to fly across the country, personally piloting the aircraft through the clouds and admiring the vast landscape of America from above. It was not just a professional challenge but also filled with deeply emotional moments.

At the end of 2022, Minh Duc and Gia Han officially tied the knot, embarking on a new journey, not only in the skies but also in life.

Taking flight together, conquering the vast skies, they not only honed their skills but also understood and supported each other every moment. Each airport they visited was not just a new destination but also a milestone in the vibrant love journey of these two ambitious young people.

How to keep the flame of love alive

Their demanding flight schedules sometimes leave them with little time together. However, this couple has their own way of keeping the romance alive. Typically, pilots who fly for 1.5 months get a week off, and they arrange time to spend that time together, using it to travel . They've taken each other to places like Da Lat, Hue, Saigon, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand… Both share a love of food, so on each trip, their first destination is always a delicious local restaurant.

Long flights apart didn't diminish their love. Facetime calls, text messages, and unique gifts from their destinations were small things that helped them stay connected.

As fellow pilots, they easily share and empathize with the difficulties of the job, from long, tiring flight days to stressful moments in the cockpit.

Working in the aviation industry, they also have their own very "aviation-related" ways of expressing affection. For example, Minh Duc would send a "Good flight" message on the cockpit information board, accompanied by a heart emoji, when he learned that Gia Han would be piloting the flight. These small gestures surprised and delighted her throughout the flight.

Ngo Gia Han describes her husband as a meticulous, caring, and attentive person. As for Minh Duc, Gia Han is a gentle, affectionate woman who knows how to take care of her family. These qualities have made their relationship even stronger.

Sharing their future plans, Gia Han hopes to continue flying the A321, while Minh Duc is eager to try the new Boeing B787. But despite flying different types of aircraft, they share a common goal: to dedicate themselves fully to Vietnam Airlines and build a strong family together.

Their love is proof that, no matter the height or the challenges they face, with understanding, trust, and companionship, love can still shine brightly even in the clouds.
