The "Father and Daughter" Contest

The competition was organized to promote the implementation of Decision No. 2074/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister issued on December 10, 2021, which addresses the Plan for implementing Directive No. 06-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership over family building in the new situation, and Decision No. 2238/QD-TTg issued on December 30, 2021, approving the Strategy for the Development of Vietnamese Families until 2030.

Ho Minh Chien, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine and Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ho Minh Chien, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine and Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, shared: "The competition is a forum for fathers and children to express their feelings, emotions, and gratitude towards their parents. From there, it promotes the beautiful traditional humanistic values ​​of family love, aiming for a better, more useful, and meaningful life, inspiring positive change and creating strong bonds within the family. At the same time, it is also a bridge connecting the writings and stories full of humanistic and beautiful themes about father-son love to the most wonderful and sacred emotions of each person."

Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Le Quoc Minh, shared at the ceremony.

"It can be said that the competition has helped people reorganize their most beautiful memories, preserve their most sincere emotions, and amplify the most beautiful aspirations and dreams about the relationship between father and daughter. All these sacred things are enough to motivate us to continue launching the second writing competition on the theme 'Father and Daughter,' hoping that the competition will spread even more widely and receive even more enthusiastic responses from readers and writers near and far," Mr. Ho Minh Chien emphasized.

Speaking at the ceremony, Central Committee member, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Le Quoc Minh, said: "In the current context, with many 'storms' of information overflowing with negative stories causing many people to disconnect and avoid accessing news, the 'Father and Daughter' contest is one of the useful and necessary contests that creates faith in life and cherishes family feelings. Therefore, I hope other media agencies will also have meaningful contests like this, with different themes, to spread positive stories to the public."

"With the success of the first competition, I believe that this second competition, with the approach of Vietnam Family Magazine, will be even bigger and more widespread," said Mr. Le Quoc Minh.

The judging panel for the 2nd "Father and Daughter" competition in 2024 is now open.

The 2nd Father and Daughter Writing Contest 2024 has officially launched and will accept entries from March 27, 2024 to June 10, 2024.

The contest is open to Vietnamese citizens both in Vietnam and abroad. Entries should be true stories, either from the perspective of the person or witness, including memories, heartfelt confessions, and personal narratives from a father to his daughter and vice versa, presented in the form of notes, reports, interviews, essays, diaries, etc. The organizers encourage participants to use real photos of the people involved in their entries.

Entries must be original articles that have not been published in any media outlets (newspapers, radio, or social media) and have not been entered in other competitions.

Ceremony space

Articles must be written in Vietnamese, with a length of 1,000-1,500 words, and can be printed on paper or submitted via email to the address provided by the Organizing Committee. Each author may submit a maximum of 3 entries and is responsible for the authenticity and accuracy of the content. Copying or plagiarizing from others in any form is strictly prohibited.

Entries selected for publication in Vietnam Family Magazine will be paid royalties as per regulations and will become the property of the editorial office; authors have no right to claim copyright infringement.

Regarding the prize structure, the organizing committee will award: 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 5 consolation prizes, and 5 special prizes . In addition to cash prizes, winning authors will also receive a certificate from the organizing committee, a book containing their entries, and gifts (if any) from sponsors.

The awards ceremony for the 2nd "Father and Daughter" contest in 2024 is scheduled to be held on Vietnamese Family Day, June 28th.
