Following on from his previous works, "39 Questions for Young People" and "39 Dialogues for Young People," author Phan Đăng releases his new book, "39 Short Meditations for Insight," which records his perceptions of life through the lens of meditation.
Journalist Phan Dang (born in 1984) is known as a sports commentator and is familiar to television viewers as the host of the show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". He is also the author of the books "Oh, My Football Village", "In the Mind of an Intellectual", "39 Questions for Young People", and "39 Dialogues for Young People".
On the morning of July 8th, author Phan Đăng held a book launch and discussion for his collection "39 Short Meditation Stories" at Kim Đồng Publishing House, with the guidance and conversation provided by TV presenter and MC Huyền Châu. The launch attracted the participation of many artists, colleagues, close friends, and a large audience.
39 Short Meditations to See, divided into 5 chapters, addresses various aspects of consciousness such as winning and losing, envy, and anger. It is a collection of fragmented yet profound reflections on life and humanity. The book is also impressive with its simple yet meaningful illustrations by artist Vu Xuan Hoan, clearly expressing the author Phan Dang's thoughts and closely linking them to the story he conveys.
Sharing about how he came to meditation, author and journalist Phan Dang said: "About 8-9 years ago, I suffered a very deep internal injury that put my stomach at risk of continuous bleeding. Suddenly, I remembered the classic books I had read before, I practiced them and felt they were miraculous."
If you truly heal the wounded inner child within yourself, that child will be soothed. Only then can I practice meditation and insight meditation, or Vipassana meditation."

During the event, author Phan Dang spent three minutes guiding the audience through moments of quiet meditation, helping them practice and better understand meditation. Simultaneously, the audience listened to the first "short meditations" read aloud in the expressive voices of the guest speakers.
Like a thoughtful pause amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, the author has infused this book with profound insights, helping readers focus more on the present and appreciate every moment of life.
Speaking about the differences compared to his two previous books, Phan Dang said: "I didn't think about looking outward to write; my target audience was my own mind. The journey from the previous two books to the 39 short meditations is a journey from the outside in, from others into myself, and I truly became myself."
"Happiness is the ability to master our inner selves, that is, to master our dissatisfactions. We often neglect our inner selves and seek out our outer selves. When we meditate, we turn inward, taking care of our inner child."
"Any terrible storm can come, but if our inner selves are cared for, matured, and nurtured, then we won't want to commit suicide because of that suffering," Phan Dang shared.
