Former chairman of farmers' association defrauded and appropriated more than 1 billion VND

On February 15th, the Investigation Police Department of Quang Ngai province announced that it had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Huynh Van Quyet, former Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Son Tinh district (Quang Ngai province), to investigate his alleged fraudulent appropriation of property.

Accordingly, in 2023, Huynh Van Quyet, taking advantage of his position as a civil servant, provided false information such as selling land, changing land use purposes, receiving land ownership certificates from others to change land use purposes, etc., but then mortgaging them to borrow money or misappropriating money from others.

Using this method, the suspect Quyết defrauded many people of over 1 billion VND before fleeing the area.

Acting on a tip-off, during the Lunar New Year of 2024, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Quang Ngai Provincial Police went to Ho Chi Minh City to arrest and extradite suspect Huynh Van Quyet back to Quang Ngai for investigation.

The Investigation Department of the Quang Ngai Provincial Police announces that anyone who has been defrauded or had their property misappropriated by Huynh Van Quyet should contact the Office of the Investigation Department of the Quang Ngai Provincial Police to report and resolve the matter.
