As reported by the Government Electronic Newspaper, the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province said that at about 5:45 a.m. on September 28, in the area near the mouth of Cua Viet port, two Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) ships were entering to take shelter from storm No. 10 when they encountered an accident.
Specifically, a ship numbered BV 0042TS sank, with 3 crew members clinging to the stern about 1 nautical mile from shore; a ship numbered BV 4670TS ran aground, with the side of the boat broken, with 8 crew members on board, 400 meters from shore.
Cua Viet Border Guard Station said that the unit has reported to the central and provincial authorities, and coordinated with Trieu Van and Con Co border guards, Border Guard Squadron 2, Coast Guard Squadron 202, and the police force and local authorities to actively participate in the rescue.
Provincial Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang, along with leaders of Quang Tri province, were present at the scene to direct rescue work.
At 9:00 a.m. the same day, authorities coordinated with local fishermen to use fishing boats to rescue 8 crew members on the BV 4670TS ship and brought them safely to shore.
By noon today, the authorities had successfully rescued a crew member of the BV 0042TS ship, who was clinging to a buoy in poor health.
Currently, the border guards continue to coordinate with relevant forces to search and rescue the remaining two crew members of ship BV 0042TS.
The crew members of the ship in distress received support and medical care.
