Attending the workshop were comrade Nguyen Dinh Toan - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches; representatives of leaders of the Women's Union of a number of communes and wards in the province.
According to the report at the Workshop, after 5 years of implementing Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021 - 2025 in Lai Chau province, many clear results have been achieved, contributing to raising awareness in the community about gender and gender equality; changing "thinking and doing", eliminating gender prejudices and stereotypes in families and communities, harmful customs and solving a number of urgent social issues for women and children. Since 2021, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union has proactively coordinated with relevant departments, branches and sectors to organize 132 training courses; 16 competitions; 111 policy dialogues; established 403 Community Communication Teams, 73 Change Leaders Clubs; 221 communication sessions; Initial support for 144 community communication teams; support for 494 ethnic minority women to give birth safely; 62 trusted community addresses were consolidated and improved in quality based on existing models/or newly established... Through the above activities, skills, awareness, and gender stereotypes were improved for the Association's staff and people, gradually focusing on effectively solving a number of urgent problems for women and children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
At the same time, the Women's Union from the province to the grassroots actively mobilized integrated resources to implement local activities through programs and projects such as: Program "Accompanying women in the border areas", Project 938 "Propaganda, education, mobilization, and support for women to participate in solving a number of social issues related to women and children" and Project 939 "Supporting women to start a business"; Project 1893 "Training officials and civil servants of the Women's Union at all levels and Women's Union Branch Chairmen for the period 2019 - 2025", Project 01 "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030"...
At the workshop, delegates discussed and expressed their opinions on the results, difficulties, and proposed solutions in the implementation of Project 8. These issues involved leadership, coordination, budget estimates, model development, and guidance at the commune level on the implementation of Project 8. At the same time, delegates proposed opening training courses to improve the capacity of staff working in propaganda and advising on the implementation of the Project in the locality; expanding the beneficiaries of Project 8 to boys and people living in particularly difficult communes, villages, and hamlets; supplementing the content of the preliminary summary of the Project's activities and rewarding localities, agencies, units, and individuals with outstanding results in organizing and implementing the Project; effective models, good practices that need to be replicated, etc.
Concluding the workshop, Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Hanh - President of the Provincial Women's Union thanked the presence and contributions of the delegates at the workshop. This is the basis for the Provincial Women's Union as well as the Vietnam Women's Academy to research and report to all levels and sectors to remove difficulties and obstacles in implementing Project 8 in the coming time. In order to continue to effectively implement Project 8 in the next phase, the Provincial Women's Union proposed and recommended to the Vietnam Women's Academy a number of contents: Requesting competent authorities to issue a system of documents and instructions for implementation to ensure consistency and uniformity in content, beneficiaries, and implementation methods; expanding the area and beneficiaries of Project 8, in addition to focusing on women and girls in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, it is necessary to research and integrate support for groups of men, community youth... to improve the effectiveness of the Project; Review the support contents, beneficiaries, and support levels to suit the actual situation in localities, especially remote, isolated, and particularly difficult areas; increase the opening of training courses for source lecturers to improve the capacity of the reporting team at the grassroots level...
