Da Nang: Tourism development promotes passenger transport recovery

DNVN - According to the Da Nang Statistical Office, in July and the first 7 months of 2025, strong tourism development continued to be an important driving force for the passenger transport sector in the city.

The increase in the number of domestic and international tourists has led to an increasing demand for travel by road, rail and air. Passenger transport modes such as inter-provincial routes, contracted vehicles, airport buses and technology taxis are more active, especially during large-scale cultural and tourism events such as the 2025 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival.

Strong tourism development is an important driving force for the passenger transport sector in Da Nang .

At the same time, passenger pick-up and drop-off activities at prominent destinations such as Ba Na Hills, Ngu Hanh Son, Son Tra Peninsula, Hoi An, My Son, etc. also contributed to promoting inner-city passenger transport. As a result, passenger transport by road and waterway continued to grow positively in terms of revenue, transport output and passenger turnover, reflecting a clear and sustainable recovery trend in this sector.

In July 2025, revenue from passenger transport by road and waterway in Da Nang reached nearly 460 billion VND, up 2% over the previous month and up nearly 33% over the same period in 2024. Accumulated in the first 7 months of 2025, revenue from these two types of transport reached more than 2,800 billion VND, up nearly 24% over the same period last year.

Passenger transport volume by road and waterway in July is estimated at 5.6 million, up 0.8% over the previous month and up 22% over the same period last year. Passenger turnover volume is estimated at 209.5 million passenger-km, up 1.2% over the previous month and up 18.6% over the same period last year.

In the first 7 months of 2025, the total passenger transport volume reached 35.1 million, an increase of 20% over the same period last year; of which, road transport increased by 21% and inland waterway transport increased by 13%. Passenger turnover volume reached 1,377.3 million passenger-km, an increase of 14.7%, with an increase of nearly 15% for road and 4.7% for inland waterway respectively.

According to the Da Nang Statistical Office, in the first 7 months of 2025, the total number of guests served by accommodation establishments in the area is estimated to reach nearly 11 million, an increase of nearly 19% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 4.3 million, an increase of nearly 22%; domestic visitors reach 6.5 million, an increase of more than 17% over the same period in 2024.

Tourists on tours served by travel agencies in July are estimated at 190,000, up nearly 9% over the previous month and more than 26% over the same period last year (of which international visitors are estimated at 46,700, up more than 2% over the previous month and 7.7% over the same period last year). In the first 7 months of 2025, tourists on tours to Da Nang are estimated at 964,300, up 28% over the same period in 2024.

“The above results reflect the effectiveness of stimulus policies, destination image promotion, as well as strong investment in infrastructure and tourism products of the city. This is a positive signal contributing to promoting economic growth and affirming Da Nang's position as the leading tourism center in the Central region and the whole country,” said the Da Nang Statistical Office.
