Excited that her crayon painting "50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang " won the A prize in the primary school category at the "Da Nang Children Proud of Tradition, Steadfastly Moving Towards the Future" painting competition and was selected for display at the "Da Nang in My Heart" exhibition, Nguyen Hai Van, a 5th grade student from Le Lai Primary School, expressed that after admiring the city's iconic landmarks such as the Han River Bridge, Dragon Bridge, Tran Thi Ly Bridge, or the Sun Wheel, she began to practice drawing these symbols.
Upon learning about the painting competition, Van registered and conceived the idea of incorporating city symbols into her artwork. She explained that after nearly a week of brainstorming, planning the composition, and coordinating colors to create a harmonious and clear picture that highlights the landmarks, she decided to choose images of the Dragon Bridge, the Ferris wheel, buildings, hot air balloons with the words "I love Da Nang" flying in the sky, and wide, clean streets with trees, playgrounds, and children playing and running around. "In my eyes, Da Nang is truly beautiful in these images, and in the future, I will strive to study hard and contribute to building a brighter and more beautiful city, and the country in general," Van happily stated.
For Nguyen Quynh Huong, a 7th-grade student at Tay Son Secondary School, the five teachings of President Ho Chi Minh have always been her guiding principles for self-improvement and academic achievement. Therefore, when participating in the painting competition "Da Nang Children Proud of Tradition, Steadfastly Moving Towards the Future," Huong incorporated these five teachings into the main composition of her painting using colored markers. Her painting won first prize in the secondary school category and was one of 200 paintings selected for display at the children's art exhibition "Da Nang in My Heart."
Huong shared that, besides the main content of the five teachings of Uncle Ho, the painting also depicts children with smiles on their faces, wearing red scarves, achieving perfect scores, and receiving the title of "Good Child of Uncle Ho"... Huong hopes that the younger generation will continue to practice Uncle Ho's teachings to become good children and excellent students, contributing to society and the country. That is the message she wants to convey through the painting.
A highlight of the exhibition was the painting "Declaration of Independence" by Nguyen Thuy Lam, a student in class 2/1 of Be Van Dan Primary School, created with crayons and winning the A prize in the primary school category. Lam said that she loves history and especially the image of President Ho Chi Minh, which has left a deep impression on her. Therefore, through the painting competition, Lam chose the moment when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, along with the image of a pink lotus bud, the people of the whole country, and children raising the national flag. Lam expressed that as the painting neared completion, she felt proud to be a part of the nation's youth and promised herself that small things, repeated daily, would lead to great things in the future.
Mr. Nguyen Nhan, Director of the Da Nang Children's Palace and Vice Chairman of the City's Youth Council, said that the 200 paintings displayed at the exhibition were considered diverse in ideas and clearly depicted the city's iconic landmarks as well as the future dreams of the children. They also praised the Party, President Ho Chi Minh , and historical events of the city and the country. The exhibition helps children develop their talents and passion for art, and it is also an activity to celebrate the city's major holidays.
