Alphonso Davies' 2024/25 season is effectively over as Bayern Munich announced he will be sidelined for several months due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The left-back sustained the injury during Canada's 2-1 victory over the USA in the Concacaf Nations League third-place playoff.

Davies' agent, Nedal Huoseh, subsequently blamed the Soccer Federation of Canada for his client's injury. The "super agent" claimed that Davies was not originally scheduled to play in the third-place match, but was persuaded to play by head coach Jesse Marsch.

“Davies wasn’t 100% fit after the game against Mexico and the original plan was that he wouldn’t start against the USA,” CBS Sports quoted Huoseh as saying. “As captain (Davies is the captain of the Canadian team), I feel he was pressured by the coach to start.”

"Davies isn't the type to easily refuse in moments like that. As a result, he played and then got injured. In my opinion, the Soccer Federation of Canada needs to do a better job of managing its players," Huoseh emphasized.
