Davies' representative outraged

Alphonso Davies' agent is upset with the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) following the player's serious cruciate ligament injury.

Alphonso Davies picked up an injury in a match that had little significance.

Alphonso Davies' 2024/25 season is all but over after Bayern Munich announced he would be out for several months with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The left-back suffered the injury during Canada's 2-1 win over the United States in the Concacaf Nations League third-place match.

Davies' agent, Nedal Huoseh, later blamed the Canadian Soccer Federation for his client's injury. The "super agent" claimed that Davies was not originally scheduled to play in the third-place match, but was convinced to play by head coach Jesse Marsch.

“Davies was not 100 percent fit after the Mexico game and the original plan was for him to not start against the United States,” Huoseh said in a statement to CBS Sports. “As captain, I felt he was pressured by the coach to start.”

"Davies is not the type of person to say no in moments like that. As a result, he played and then the injury happened. In my opinion, the Canadian Soccer Federation needs to do a better job in managing the players," Huoseh emphasized.

The Canadian Soccer Federation has yet to publicly respond to Huoseh’s claims. Davies’ injury is a major blow for Bayern, who were initially expected to be ready for the club’s upcoming turnaround in both the Champions League and Bundesliga, but are now sidelined for a significant period.

In addition, Davies is likely to miss the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, a historic tournament taking place this summer. Bayern's defense is in a crisis, with center-back Dayot Upamecano also set to miss a period of time due to injury.

Bayern expect Upamecano to miss several weeks with a left knee problem, after he returned from France's two-legged Nations League quarter-final against Croatia.
