Visiting professors are appointed by the Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City for a maximum term of 5 years or a minimum term of 1 year and may be renewed.

"We are 'inviting' rather than recruiting. When we 'invite,' the conditions, standards, and benefits will be different from those for recruitment," said Mr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

Visiting professors will receive competitive remuneration, travel and accommodation support. In addition, they will have access to modern facilities, laboratories and research resources at member universities of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City stipulates that each visiting professor must dedicate a minimum of 10 working days per year. They must proactively plan and participate in teaching, either in person or online, and be ready to organize scientific conferences, supervise doctoral students, support the development of international cooperation proposals, and assist in building strong research groups.

According to Mr. Quan, the appointment of 100 visiting professors aims not only to improve the quality of teaching but also to promote scientific research and innovation at the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. These visiting professors are expected to contribute to building and improving the talent training program, sharing experiences, updating knowledge, and providing students with the latest technological trends. They will also participate in innovative startup activities, supporting students and faculty in developing practical startup ideas and projects.

The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City will accept applications from March 2025 and organize a review board based on competency and scientific achievements. Qualified candidates will undergo an in-person or online interview before being officially appointed.

For professors with outstanding achievements, recommended by a reputable scientist from the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the review board will propose that the university director consider inviting and appointing them without going through the appointment process.
