The world rankings of top chess players were announced by FIDE on June 1st, including Grandmasters. Le Quang Liem He is the only Vietnamese player to be included in the top 100.
Currently, Le Quang Liem still has an Elo rating of 2731. The Vietnamese chess player recently announced that he will not be participating in the 2026 World Team Chess Olympiad.
On the FIDE rankings, Magnus Carlsen (Norway) still holds the number 1 position with an Elo rating of 2841. In second place is Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana (USA) with an Elo rating of 2792. In the June FIDE rankings, the player ranked 100th is Nguyen Thai Dai Van of the Czech Republic.
Recently, Le Quang Liem made the decision to compete for Team Flash at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026.
The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 competition will take place from July 6th to August 23rd. Le Quang Liem secured his spot in the tournament after qualifying at the recent DreamHack Atlanta 2026 competition in the USA. Recently, Le Quang Liem has been aiming to compete in chess at esports events. The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 will feature 24 esports disciplines, including chess.
Esports is included in the official competition program of the 20th Asian Games with 11 events. However, chess is not included in this sport's competition at this year's Games.
