On May 21st, on the southern bank of the Perfume River in Thuan Hoa ward, the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Hue City held a ceremony to launch and arrange seven lotus flowers on the Perfume River, in celebration of the Great Buddha's Birthday, Buddhist calendar 2570 (Gregorian calendar 2026).

A lotus platform has been set up on the Perfume River, in front of the Nghinh Luong Pavilion historical site in Hue city, in preparation for the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration in the Buddhist calendar year 2570.

The ceremony of lighting seven lotus flowers on the Perfume River to pray for national peace and prosperity will take place on the evening of May 24th, marking the opening of the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration in the Buddhist calendar year 2570. The seven lotus flowers symbolize the welcoming of the seven lotus steps that marked the Buddha's birth.

The Hue City Buddhist Association organized the following events to celebrate the Buddha's Birthday (Buddhist calendar 2570): Opening ceremony at Tu Dam Ancestral Temple, Buddhist cultural exhibition at Lieu Quan Center, flower offering and visitation at the martyrs' cemetery; charitable and humanitarian programs, social welfare activities, and visits to poor households. The main ceremony took place on May 31st, along with a parade of flower floats; and a lantern festival at Nghinh Luong Dinh historical site on the north bank of the Perfume River...

Using tugboats, the lotus-shaped platform that was launched onto the Perfume River in Hue City is being towed in preparation for the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist Calendar 2570.

Specifically, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Hue City, in coordination with the Organizing Committee of the Hue Festival 2026, will organize a vegetarian food festival on May 28-29 at Nguyen Dinh Chieu pedestrian street, Thuan Hoa ward. The festival will feature 56 stalls offering 100 dishes prepared by hotels, restaurants, and temples in and outside Hue City. It is expected to serve over 5,000 visitors. With meticulous preparation and a harmonious blend of flavors, colors, and nutrition, the festival will offer visitors a rich experience of Hue's vegetarian cuisine.
