Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, extended greetings and congratulations to the Venerable religious dignitaries, as well as all monks, nuns, lay Buddhists, and followers.
Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao emphasized that commemorating the Buddha's birthday holds special significance for monks, nuns, and Buddhists worldwide, and especially in Vietnam. The Buddha's birthday is celebrated annually by the United Nations as a global religious festival to honor the profound humanistic values of Buddhism for peace among humankind.

“Having accompanied the nation for over two thousand years, Vietnamese Buddhism has always been closely linked to the destiny of the country, promoting the tradition of patriotism and the spirit of protecting the nation and ensuring the people's well-being, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland. In every historical period, the Buddhist Church and its followers have always been active and reliable members of the great national unity,” affirmed Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao.
She stated that, over the past period, along with the overall development of the city, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the city and all monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers have made many practical contributions to social welfare activities, caring for the poor and vulnerable, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, protecting the environment, caring for community health, promoting education and talent, contributing to the widespread dissemination of the good values of Buddhism in social life.

Religious dignitaries, officials, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers have always faithfully implemented the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws; actively participated in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Fatherland Front; and contributed to maintaining political stability, social order and security, and consolidating national unity.

Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao expressed her wish that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Can Tho City would continue to uphold the tradition of patriotism, solidarity, and harmony; guide monks, nuns, and Buddhists to live "a good life and a beautiful faith," closely accompanying the nation; continue to actively participate in social welfare activities, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, digital transformation, and building cultural life in residential areas; and focus on training and nurturing a successor generation of monks and nuns to meet the development requirements in the new situation.
Continue to promote the role of religious leaders, officials, and influential figures in the Buddhist community; strengthen efforts to encourage monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers to strictly adhere to the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws; and contribute to building Can Tho City into an increasingly civilized, modern, compassionate, and sustainably developed city.
At the same time, we will uphold the fine national traditions of Vietnamese Buddhism, contributing to the solemnity of the Church in accordance with the spirit of the Buddha's Birthday Message of the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Association.
