Inspire the passion for reading - Spread the wings of knowledge
The contest is organized annually by the Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the Departmentof Education and Training of Da Nang city, with the mission of spreading the love of books, building reading habits and developing self-study capacity in students.
Through each round, students not only gain knowledge but are also encouraged to express their personal feelings, share their reading journey and propose initiatives to promote reading culture in schools and communities.
In the interview round this morning, many candidates made a strong impression thanks to their confident demeanor, ability to present clearly and deeply with emotion when talking about their favorite books. For them, books are not only learning tools but also “great friends” – quietly accompanying, supporting the soul and inspiring beautiful thoughts.
Doan Vu Minh Thu, grade 11, Nguyen Trai High School (Lien Chieu District), shared: “Books help me mature in my thinking, learn to empathize and understand myself better. The book Bong bong len troi by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh is my choice this year – a work that changed my perspective on kindness, determination and living more responsibly. I want to spread those values to my peers.”
Living with books – A persistent and inspiring journey
The interview atmosphere was light, friendly but still full of inspiration. Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, a teacher at Nguyen Trai High School, expressed: “I really feel that the students have lived with books, not just read books for exams. The way they share shows that books have entered their thoughts, actions and lifestyles.”
Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi An, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports , member of the Jury - repeatedly affirmed that the most valuable thing of the contest is not the score or the award, but the journey of living with books, thereby forming humane thoughts, beautiful emotions and positive actions in each student.
In the preliminary round, candidates can choose to write or make videos – this way of promoting personal strengths and stimulating creativity in approaching books. Notably, this year’s Vietnamese-English bilingual board recorded many outstanding entries with natural, creative expressions and diverse perspectives.
The contest also recognized the active support of parents, teachers and schools - those who have silently fueled, guided and empowered children on their journey to knowledge and growth with books.
The official results and award ceremony are expected to be announced in the near future. The top-scoring contestants will not only be honored at the city level but also have the opportunity to represent Da Nang in the national competition, spreading the reading spirit of Da Nang further.
Through the pages of books, children are quietly nurturing their love of knowledge, cultivating their personalities and awakening their ambitions for a beautiful life. The contest not only honors “reading culture ambassadors” but also expands the reading space – a space for young buds who know how to think, feel and live kindly.
