The People's Committee of Dak Nong province has assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to take the lead and coordinate with relevant units to assess the drought situation and water resources. The Department will develop a scientific irrigation plan to ensure water supply for production and daily life.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is tasked with monitoring the exploitation and use of water resources and proposing measures to protect them. The Department is strengthening its efforts in forecasting and warning about weather conditions and drought risks.

The Department of Finance is responsible for allocating funds promptly to implement drought mitigation measures. The Department of Information and Communications will coordinate efforts to promote awareness about water conservation and drought prevention and control measures.
The People's Committees of districts and cities should proactively implement drought prevention and control measures in their localities. They should advise and guide people to switch to crop structures suitable for drought conditions.
The Dak Nong Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited proactively develops plans and implements comprehensive solutions to prevent and combat drought. The company proactively inspects and repairs water supply facilities for domestic and industrial use, ensuring their efficient operation. The enterprise actively monitors and updates water resources, reporting periodically or unexpectedly to relevant authorities in case of any abnormalities.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, during the 2024 dry season, Dak Nong was severely affected by drought and water shortage. More than 8,800 hectares of crops throughout the province were affected by drought and water scarcity, with estimated losses exceeding 430 billion VND.
Forecasts from the Dak Nong Meteorological and Hydrological Station indicate that the 2025 dry season will face a risk of localized water shortages, especially towards the end of the winter-spring crop season. Water levels in some rivers and reservoirs are trending downwards, with a high risk of depletion by February 2025.
