(NLĐO) - The two top prizes at the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Water Rocket Competition both went to Le Thanh Cong Secondary School in Nha Be District.

On June 15th, 150 teams from 105 junior and senior high schools across Ho Chi Minh City competed in the 15th Ho Chi Minh City Water Rocket Competition, 2025, in a thrilling and hilarious contest. Organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, the competition aims to promote and develop creativity among the city's youth. This year's competition was held at the College of Logistics 2 (Thu Duc City).

Despite having to compete in hot weather conditions, the students made their best efforts to pass the competition rounds, including: long-range water rocket launching, high-altitude water rocket launching, and long-range water rocket targeting.

This year's competition has 450 participants, all junior and senior high school students from Ho Chi Minh City.

Vo Nhat Gia Huy, a student from Pham Van Sang High School (Hoc Mon district), said that his team applied physics knowledge previously taught by their teachers, such as pressure and thrust, to this competition. "Thanks to the competition, I got a lot of practice, making it easier to visualize and remember the knowledge I learned at school. The moment I saw the water rocket I built launch far away was very exciting," Huy said with a bright smile.

In Round 1, a long-range water rocket competition, each team has one turn and can fire a maximum of 3 rockets within 90 seconds into the competition area. Each team can place a maximum of 3 launch platforms and 3 rockets in the firing preparation area.

In round 2, the high-altitude water rocket launch event uses parachutes. Within 2 minutes, each team is only allowed to launch one high-altitude water rocket within the competition area.

In Round 3, the long-range water rocket competition involves each team launching three water rockets within two minutes, hitting scoring targets on the playing field. The Round 3 score is the sum of the scores of the three water rockets that pass through the target square.

In the high-altitude water rocket launching and parachute deployment competition, many teams encountered technical problems.

Mr. Tran Duc Su, Deputy Director of the Center for the Development of Young Scientists and Technologists, believes that the competition is not only a platform for interaction, knowledge exchange, and the application of science and creativity, but also an opportunity to foster a passion for science and innovation among young people.

After exciting and intense rounds of competition, two teams from Le Thanh Cong Secondary School (Nha Be District) excellently won first and second prizes. Third prize went to the team from Bui Van Thu Secondary School (Hoc Mon District). In addition, the organizers also awarded 17 consolation prizes to the participating teams.
