Old bottle
After a vacation in his home country, Coach Kim Sang Sik has just returned to Vietnam and is preparing to announce the list of U23 Vietnam players who will gather on August 29 to prepare for the U23 Asia qualifiers held at Phu Tho home stadium.
Although not announced yet, it is very likely that the Korean captain will continue to use the same players who participated with him and won the U23 Southeast Asian championship in July.

This decision is completely understandable for coach Kim Sang Sik because the V-League has just started, while the First Division has not yet started, so it is not easy to find new players for U23 Vietnam.
Besides, the preparation time for the matches in the U23 Asian qualifiers is relatively short, so the Korean strategist will still use the old squad such as Khuat Van Khang, Phi Hoang, Quoc Viet, Van Truong, Dinh Bac... instead of taking unnecessary risks.
Waiting for a "new wine"
The recent U23 Southeast Asian Championship, although a success in terms of achievements, cannot overshadow the problems in the playing style of U23 Vietnam.
The team's performance, frankly speaking, was not convincing and revealed too many points that needed to be improved. That was the "wine" that was still weak and needed to be "brewed" by coach Kim Sang Sik to make it stronger.

Specifically, the team's defensive ability has not yet brought absolute peace of mind. At many times, the defenders still lacked concentration, leaving dangerous gaps and having to rely on the goalkeeper's excellence to save the goal.
However, the most worrying thing is the attack. Coach Kim Sang Sik's strikers created many opportunities but were too wasteful in the final finishing stage. The ability to convert opportunities into goals was very low, causing U23 Vietnam to often fall into a stalemate before achieving unsatisfactory victories.
Now, Coach Kim Sang Sik's task in the upcoming U23 Asian Qualifiers is to "mix" a new drink to make fans more excited than when winning the championship at the U23 Southeast Asian tournament.
The list may be “old bottle”, but success in the upcoming U23 Asian qualifiers will depend on how coach Kim Sang Sik pours “new wine” into it.
