Legendary player Nguyen Van Vinh has passed away.

(NLĐO) - Legendary player Nguyen Van Vinh - former Technical Director of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) Club, who made many contributions to Vietnamese football, has passed away at the age of 85.

Football legend Nguyen Van Vinh passed away peacefully at 3:30 AM on February 25th. His funeral will be held at Minh Dang Quang Buddhist Temple (Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City). The viewing of the former Technical Director of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club will begin at 7:30 PM on February 25th, and the burial ceremony will take place on the morning of February 27th.

Football expert Nguyen Van Vinh played a major role in the development of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) football. He was often affectionately called "Father Vinh Gia Lai" or "Old Man Ninh Thuan " by players and colleagues. During his time, Mr. Vinh served as an advisor to Chairman Doan Nguyen Duc ( bầu Đức), and held the position of Technical Director of HAGL Club.

During his playing career, before 1975, playing for The Cong FC, Mr. Vinh was considered one of the outstanding players of the North, alongside famous Vietnamese football legends such as Le The Tho, Tran Duy Long, and others.

After retiring from playing, Mr. Vinh transitioned to coaching and is considered one of the most experienced and skilled strategists in Vietnamese professional football. Not only does he possess a deep understanding of modern football tactics and techniques, but Coach Nguyen Van Vinh also knows how to unlock players' potential, playing a crucial role in shaping the aesthetically pleasing playing style of HAGL FC under Chairman Duc.

Working alongside Thai football legend Kiatisuk, Mr. Vinh led HAGL FC to the pinnacle of Vietnamese football, winning two national championships and the national Super Cup. The Hoang Anh Gia Lai Arsenal - JMG Academy, established in 2007, became a renowned training ground for young Vietnamese footballers and also bears the mark of this football legend born in 1942.

Although he retired in 2009, football expert Nguyen Van Vinh still participates in talent scouting sessions with the HAGL club's coaching staff and comments on Vietnamese football.

Due to old age and declining health, Mr. Vinh could not dedicate his life to his passion. After a long period of contributing to Vietnamese football, the legendary player Nguyen Van Vinh passed away peacefully, leaving fans and colleagues with immeasurable sorrow.
