As reported by CAND Newspaper, at about 9:15 a.m. on the same day, a 29-seat passenger car with license plate number 29F-059.95 (registration valid until August 19, 2025) driven by Nguyen Van Tu (born in 1984), residing in Tan Phong commune, Ninh Giang district, Hai Duong province (with a class D driver's license issued by the Department of Transport of Bac Ninh province) traveling from Tam Dao town, Tam Dao district, lost its brakes and overturned on the side of the road at Km19 National Highway 2B, in Ho Son commune (Tam Dao).
There were 17 people on the bus (including the driver). As a result, 3 people died (including 2 children, 1 woman): Ngo Vu Minh Nhat (born 2022), Mai Phuong Thao (born 2016), Phan Hai Tu (born 1984), all from Hai Duong province; 14 injured people were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Fire Police and Rescue Department took out the body of the victim in the passenger bus overturned incident.
Immediately after receiving the news of the serious traffic accident, the Board of Directors of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police Department directed the mobilization of forces from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Traffic Police Department, Investigation Police and local police forces to coordinate with local authorities and related forces to quickly organize and deploy rescue work, ensure security and order and regulate traffic in the area. At the scene, the windshield and all the right side windows of the vehicle were shattered, many personal items were thrown out, the vehicle was overturned and the right side of the body was deformed.
Vinh Phuc Provincial Police organized an investigation of the traffic accident scene.
In the dangerous terrain conditions, the vehicle was severely damaged, the rescue work encountered many difficulties, but with a high sense of responsibility, 17 officers and soldiers of the Fire Police Department and Rescue Team quickly approached and deployed rescue teams, using vehicles to pull the overturned vehicle to rescue the injured, as well as the people crushed by the vehicle, brought them out and handed them over to the medical team to perform first aid and take them to a medical facility.

The initial cause of the traffic accident was determined to be the vehicle losing its brakes while going downhill, causing the driver to lose control of his speed, crash into the guardrail, and then plunge down the embankment.
From the above incident, Vinh Phuc Provincial Police recommend that people and tourists participating in traffic on mountain passes and steep roads when coming to Tam Dao tourist area should pay attention to carefully checking the technical condition of the vehicle before moving, especially the brake system, tires, steering and signal lights.
Drivers need to control speed, keep a safe distance, strictly comply with traffic safety regulations, and minimize sudden braking and sudden changes of direction on dangerous mountain passes, especially in bad weather conditions, rain, and slippery roads.
The provincial police also requested that transport businesses and tourist organizations arrange drivers with experience driving on steep mountain passes and regularly check and maintain vehicles before the trip to ensure absolute safety for passengers.
