So, after 17 years since the Vietnamese national football team won their first AFF Cup title, once again the chants of "Vietnam champions!" resounded in the Rajmanggala Stadium in Thailand.
Representatives from various organizations presented awards to the Vietnamese National Team, including Mr. Le Ngoc Son (third from the right), General Director of Petrovietnam, who, on behalf of the Group, presented the coaching staff and players with 2 billion VND.
1. On the evening of January 5th, the Vietnamese national team defeated Thailand 3-2 in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 final, winning the championship (with an aggregate score of 5-3). When the final whistle blew after the breathtaking final seconds of injury time in the second half, the people of Hanoi, along with the rest of the country, erupted in joy at the beginning of the year, as a good omen for 2025, looking towards an era of national progress.
So, after 17 years since the Vietnamese national football team won their first AFF Cup title, once again the chants of "Vietnam champions!" resounded in the Rajmanggala Stadium in Thailand.
On the afternoon of January 6th, the team returned to the country to a warm welcome, surrounded by flags and flowers, smiles, and warm embraces. At the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with and congratulated the brave and talented warriors. The Prime Minister said: “It was a journey full of emotions, culminating in the final match, especially the final goal by player Nguyen Hai Long. The ball slowly rolled into the net, leaving the opponent helpless against the strength of our team. It was a gentle and tender feeling, elevating our victory!”
Beyond sporting and cultural events, every milestone in development across all fields is worthy of appreciation, contributing to the strong resurgence of national spirit, self-reliance, self-confidence, self-strength, national pride, and the aspiration for rapid and sustainable national development.
2. Another piece of good news regarding socio-economic development. According to the General Statistics Office, GDP in 2024 is projected to increase by 7.09% compared to the previous year. This is a very positive growth rate in the context of unpredictable global fluctuations and the impact of natural disasters, storms, and floods domestically. This growth rate exceeds the set target and is an important foundation for accelerating and breaking through in 2025, successfully concluding the 2020-2025 five-year term, with the goal of achieving double-digit growth in the coming period to successfully realize the two centenary goals by 2030 and 2045.
3. The Politburo has recently issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation of the nation. In the era of globalization, science and technology are developing at a rapid pace. The development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation is a decisive factor in the development of nations; it is a prerequisite and the best opportunity for Vietnam to develop into a prosperous and powerful nation.
With a sense of urgency, a "rush and queue" approach, and a strong impetus, from the Central Committee to ministries, departments, and localities, all are focusing their efforts on this extremely important political task, which involves removing bottlenecks in mechanisms and eliminating barriers to achieve technological breakthroughs. General Secretary To Lam directly heads the Central Steering Committee on Science, Technology Development, Innovation, and Digital Transformation. And on January 13th, the Politburo will preside over the implementation of this resolution at the Dien Hong Hall, signifying a Dien Hong Conference in the new era.
The National Assembly will soon enact the "Law on Digital Technology Industry," aiming to concretize the goals and tasks outlined in Resolution 57, towards mastering strategic technologies for national development. The concept of digital technology will be clearly defined in terms of its content and the steps involved in the transformation process. Digital technology encompasses information technology and next-generation digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, virtual reality and augmented reality, and other similar technologies, to digitize the real world, collect, store, transmit, and process digital information and data.
The Party and State's grand strategy demands high determination, great effort, concrete action, clear responsibility, and critical thinking to achieve high consensus, so that we can "discuss action rather than retreat."
The great joy of the new year for the whole country is also a great joy and responsibility for Petrovietnam. The new era of the oil and gas industry will encompass two phases: the first, from 2025 to 2035, and the second, from 2035 to 2045, when Vietnam celebrates its 100th anniversary. The crucial task for those seeking oil and gas in this new era is: to focus on improving the governance system, synchronizing it with the institutional system, concentrating investment strategies, especially in the field of oil and gas exploration and production, and developing key projects in this sector.
