Light up the incomplete moons

Regularly for the past 5 years, every full moon of August, the Association of Volunteers of Dien Ban has quietly prepared for the program "Mid-Autumn Festival of Love" at the Center for Disabled Children of Dien Tho (Dien Ban Tay Commune). Without calling for sponsorship, without loud media, the program took place as a promise to bring a warm Mid-Autumn Festival to the less fortunate lives at the center.

Each member of the group voluntarily contributed funds, together planned, prepared gifts, lanterns, stage decorations… every single step was done with dedication and understanding. This year, the impact of storm No. 10 caused prolonged heavy rain, slippery roads, and difficult travel, but the 25 volunteers still showed up on time.

Mr. Le Tat Thanh, Deputy Head of the Volunteer Group, shared: “Just seeing the disabled children smile, all the tiredness disappears. When the children are happy, we are also happier.”

In the cozy space of the center, despite the pouring rain outside, the full moon festival still took place with great emotion. The children watched lion dance performances, received gifts from Hang and Cuoi, played folk games, ate buffet and enjoyed performances by the members themselves.

There are eyes that cannot see the moonlight clearly, feet that cannot dance around lanterns, but the children's smiles are always brighter and fuller than ever.

Nguyen Thi An, (10 years old) who is visually impaired, happily shared: “I am very happy that every year my brothers and sisters organize the Mid-Autumn Festival and give us meaningful gifts. I hope to see everyone again next year.”

To make the joy more complete, the Dien Ban Volunteers Association also connected the Thanh Quyt village lion dance team to perform for free at disability centers, kindergartens... Up to now, the lion dance team has performed at 6 locations in An Thang ward, Hoi An and Dien Ban Tay commune...

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival is also very meaningful for the unfortunate children in shelters and orphanages such as: Hope Village, Peace Village, Hoa Mai Center... These peaceful places are now filled with laughter, lights and happiness when receiving attention from the community. The children are welcomed by many volunteer groups as well as organizations and individuals who come to visit and encourage them. Simple gifts, or simply a handshake and Mid-Autumn wishes are enough to warm the children on this special day.

From October 4 to 5 (14-15 lunar calendar), as planned, more than 20 volunteer groups will organize the Mid-Autumn Festival program in the highland border communes of Da Nang . Specifically, the Da Nang Group will organize at Ong Binh hamlet, Tra Leng commune; Tam Giao Group will organize at village 6A, Tra Van commune; Dong Ho Youth Union (Dien Ban Bac ward) will organize at A Xoo hamlet, Tay Giang commune; Quang Hien Youth Union (Dien Ban Bac ward) will organize at Ma Cooih hamlet, Ben Hien commune; Phap Lien Hoa Club will organize at Ong Bich hamlet, Tra Van commune; Nhan Ai Club will organize at Arơh hamlet, Tay Giang commune...

Journeys called sharing

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Kham Duc Charity Club cooperated with TuTi Mart Charity Fund to organize the program "Mid-Autumn Festival of the Great Forest" to share joy with 1,000 disadvantaged children in Kham Duc commune. The program gave away candies and school supplies to encourage the children to happily go to school.

Mr. Chau Nguyen Ngoc Hung, a member of the Kham Duc Charity Club, shared: “This year, the program is organized on a larger scale than every year. We hope to bring the children a complete Mid-Autumn Festival, filled with laughter and joy, so that the children in the highlands feel that they are always cared for and loved.”

In the bustling atmosphere of the full moon season, members of the Danang Friends Club organized gift-giving activities and interacted with and cared for the elderly at Hiep Duc Nursing Center. In addition to moon cakes, milk and necessities, the group also organized haircuts, baths, health visits, chats, bringing a cozy and sharing atmosphere to the elderly.

Ms. Ha Thi Duyen, a group member, shared: “Although they are no longer children, for many lonely elderly people, sincere care from the community is still the most precious gift during the Mid-Autumn Festival. A handshake, a greeting is enough to warm people’s hearts.”

Meanwhile, the Green Warrior Volunteer Club organized a series of meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival activities at Noc Cheng Tong (Tra Tap commune) and cooked at the Mental Health Nursing Center in Da Nang city.

At Noc Cheng Tong, a school with many difficulties, the group brought the children a warm mid-autumn night with lanterns, candies and folk games, helping them have true joy during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Despite the dangerous roads, the members still did not mind the difficulties to "light up" the moonlight in the remote village.

The club also prepares nutritious meals and interacts with patients at the Da Nang City Mental Health Nursing Center, creating a close and sharing atmosphere for those in need of special attention.
