"Let people eat banh chung once and then remember and come back to find me"

Inheriting her family’s Chung cake wrapping profession, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Anh (born in 1973, in Cam Khe, Phu Tho) has “breathed” into it her passion and aspiration. With the brand “Chinh Anh Dat To Chung Cake”, she has contributed to spreading the flavor of her homeland and become a typical example of a successful startup.

Change the way of doing business

Starting with just small batches of cakes for her family during the holidays, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Anh gradually received many compliments from acquaintances and neighbors. They commented that her cakes were soft and fragrant, the filling was rich, and the packaging was very firm. From a hobby, she gradually became attached to the profession.

"The job of making banh chung has followed me without me realizing it, because each cake I make is a bit of nostalgia and conveys a lot of emotion," Ms. Minh Anh shared.

When deciding to build her own brand for her hometown’s banh chung, Ms. Minh Anh embarked on a thorny entrepreneurial journey. The shift from a small-scale mindset to large-scale production was a turning point for her.

The biggest difficulty when starting a business for the owner of the brand "Chinh Anh Dat To Banh Chung" is the lack of knowledge about marketing, brand building and market approach. However, with the spirit of learning, she has attended many training courses, approached digital technology , listened to customer feedback to continuously improve the product.

"I gradually brought the brand "Chinh Anh Dat To Banh Chung" to social networks, connected with agents, and reached a wider market. At first, I was quite confused, but then everything gradually fell into place," she said.

Loyal to traditional flavors, Ms. Minh Anh always focuses on choosing clean ingredients with clear origins, from sticky rice, green beans to pork. The stages of wrapping and cooking the cake all ensure food hygiene and safety.

In addition, she invests in eye-catching packaging and labels that reflect the culture of the Hung Kings' Land, contributing to elevating the value of her hometown's products. "Many people can make banh chung, but not everyone can make people eat it once and remember it, coming back to find you," Ms. Anh shared.

Passion and perseverance

Currently, Ms. Minh Anh's banh chung facility supplies thousands of banh chung to the market every month. Her products are not only available in Phu Tho but also distributed in many neighboring provinces and cities. In addition to individual customers, she also accepts packages of banh chung to serve events and festivals...

In particular, through online sales channels, Ms. Anh has gradually digitized her products, taking advantage of social networks to make banh chung closer and more accessible to the younger generation.

Not just a business, she considers keeping the banh chung making profession as a way to preserve memories. "Starting a business from a traditional product is both difficult and easy. Difficult because you have to compete in a modern market, easy because you have the roots, the cultural soul to tell a different story," she shared.

Every year on the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary, she participates in wrapping cakes to offer to the Hung King. It is an opportunity for her to promote her brand and also a chance to remind herself and her relatives of the responsibility to preserve the values of her roots.

When asked what is most important for rural women to start a successful business, Ms. Anh did not hesitate to answer: "Passion and perseverance". According to her, a woman, even if she starts from scratch, if she loves her job, knows how to keep her word, is not afraid to learn, and is willing to change, she will find a solid position.

Starting a business is not a one-day or two-day affair, but if done with heart, even a simple product like banh chung can create a livelihood for the family and contribute to the homeland.

In the near future, Ms. Minh Anh plans to expand production scale, build a standard processing workshop, and create more jobs for local workers. She is also planning to develop more traditional products such as banh giay, banh che lam... to meet customer needs, especially during holidays or experiential tours.

"My wish is that every holiday season, every time Phu Tho is mentioned, people will think of Chinh Anh's specialty banh chung," Ms. Anh shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Anh has won the first prize in the "Wrapping and Cooking Banh Chung at Hung Temple" contest for 10 consecutive years. She was also honored to receive the Certificate of Merit for "Successful Women Entrepreneurship in the 2017-2025 period" awarded by the Women's Union of Phu Tho province.
