Sharing with Dong Nai Weekend, writer Cat Tuong said: “I have been an editor for a newspaper publication serving children for more than 15 years. Through columns such as: Creation, School Life..., I have had the opportunity to interact with children, so I like to write books for them. In addition, in my personal life, I have 2 sons (9 and 11 years old), so that is also a very rich and familiar material for me to convey in the pages of books.”
* What are the characteristics of writing books for children and is that a common difficulty for authors writing about children, ma'am?
- When writing for children, I have to remove the speculations and experiences of a person in their 30s and 40s; remove the harshness of life.
Therefore, when composing, I often find myself a quiet enough space to be able to "call" my memories, "pull out" the child in my soul to be able to "communicate" on an equal footing with my readers...
Writer Cat Tuong's real name is Pham Thi Huong, born in 1984. Some of the author's books: Grandma's story, let's laugh ha ha; My dad is not a hero; The chief goes to school; Set of 2 books: If you press the button, dad suddenly disappears - If the mermaid returns to the ocean; Don't open the door to strangers (Book entered the final round of the 1st Kim Dong Literature Award)...
* One thing worth noting when reading some of your books is the images of children who often make mistakes and are not perfect. Can you share the reason for this and your intention?
- There is indeed an image of an “imperfect child” in my books (laughs)! For example, I often portray a child who loves to play and may even love to play more than to study. Through this, any reader, whether adult or child, can encounter themselves in some moments, so that the character “I” can interact with his readers.
I do not paint a rosy picture of children, they may make mistakes, make errors… but most importantly, they will change their perception and become more mature from those mistakes. Through such images, young readers will “play the role” and not feel pressured when reading books…
* Thank you very much!
