TPO - The landslide on the left bank of the Red River in Van Khe commune (Me Linh district, Hanoi) is approximately 300 meters long, causing cracks in houses, collapsing walls, and uprooting trees belonging to several households living along the river.
The landslide on the left bank of the Red River is located from K42+790 to K43+010, with a length of approximately 300m, extending downstream from the outlet of the Van Khe pumping station (Van Khe commune, Me Linh district). |
According to the leaders of Van Khe commune People's Committee, the landslide on the left bank of the Red River in the area occurred during typhoon number 3. The incident caused cracks in houses, collapsed walls, and felled trees belonging to three households living along the riverbank in Van Quan 1 village. Local authorities have placed warning signs at the landslide site to inform residents and discourage access. |
Ms. Lo Thi Ha (Van Quan 1 village) said that due to the dike collapse, her house has tilted towards the riverbank. In addition, the kitchen floor and the walls of the second floor have cracked. Her family evacuated to a relative's house more than a month ago, but recently had to return home because they couldn't stay there indefinitely. Currently, she and her three children are living in constant fear in their house (photo: Cracked kitchen floor of Ms. Ha's family). Ms. Ha hopes that the local authorities will soon provide solutions to help her family relocate from the landslide area or resettle them so they can live in peace. |
Also in the riverside area of Van Quan 1 village, the landslide has reached right up to the edge of the houses of Ms. Thuy's family and Ms. Hang's family. |
In response to this situation, the Hanoi City People's Committee issued an order to construct the project "Emergency remediation of erosion on the left bank of the Red River in Van Khe commune, Me Linh district" with a budget of 35 billion VND. |
The project involves a treatment length of approximately 300m, extending downstream from the outlet of the Van Khe pumping station. Construction is scheduled to be completed before May 30, 2025, with the entire project finished in 2025. |
The Hanoi City People's Committee has assigned the Me Linh District People's Committee to coordinate with relevant units to implement warning measures and ensure the safety of people and vehicles participating in traffic on the subsided and cracked dikes. |
The Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in coordination with the Me Linh District People's Committee, is implementing appropriate reinforcement measures to limit the spread of cracks and prevent rainwater from flowing into the cracks and subsidence. |
