On the evening of September 13, heavy rain continued in Ho Chi Minh City, but medical staff from the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Traditional Medicine still tried their best to transport packaged medicine boxes to Tan Son Nhat airport.

To have neat medicine bags, in the afternoon of the same day, at the hall of Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, the atmosphere became busy, medical staff joined hands to pack with all their love for the people of the North.

By the end of the afternoon, nearly 400 bags of medicine, contributed by Binh Dan Hospital, District 12 Hospital, Tan Binh Hospital, Nha Be Hospital, and Saigon General Hospital, were completed and transported to the airport to Hoa Binh province.

At People's Hospital 115, the atmosphere also became bustling. Doctor Tran Van Song, the hospital director, shared that the hospital was assigned by the Department of Health to be part of the support group for Phu Tho province, the province most severely affected by the storm.

On the same afternoon, the unit coordinated with other hospitals such as Go Vap District Hospital, Nguyen Trai Hospital, Blood Transfusion and Hematology Hospital, and Children's Hospital to classify and package more than 1,500 bags of medicine to send to Phu Tho province.

“Not only packaging medicine bags, the hospital also has human resources including doctors and nurses ready to support other provinces when needed.

In the afternoon, we bought life jackets, flashlights, and other necessary items for doctors and nurses going to flood areas," said Dr. Song.

Doctor Tran Phu Manh Sieu - director of Go Vap District Hospital - said that when receiving information about sending medicine bags to people in flood-hit areas, the hospital quickly bought medicine.

“Today, the hospital's medical staff will continue to pack and classify more than 200 donation bags with other hospitals to send to Phu Tho province,” said Dr. Sieu.

Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Lan - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Traditional Medicine - shared that in her role as head of the Lao Cai province medical support team under the direction of the City Department of Health, the unit is urgently coordinating with Dermatology Hospital, General Hospital of Hoc Mon, District 7, Phu Nhuan District to prepare "Family Medicine Bags" and deliver medicine boxes overnight to promptly support the people in the North affected by storm No. 3.

In addition, the Institute was also assigned by the City Department of Health to act as the focal point for contacting and coordinating with relevant units and individuals to organize the transportation of "Family Medicine Bags" to provinces and cities affected by storm No. 3 by aircraft.

At the same time, coordinate with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association to transport vehicles to the provinces so that the medicine bags can reach the people as soon as possible.

It is expected that the Institute will send 15 medical staff to Lao Cai province to support medical care for people there.

Thousands of bags of medicine will continue to be delivered.

In the context of rising flood waters isolating many households in the North due to the impact of storm No. 3, the Ho Chi Minh City health sector has launched the "Family Medicine Bag" program including 30,000 medicine bags for 10 northern provinces and cities.

The medicine bag will contain essential medicines such as: fever reducer, stomach ache, diarrhea, allergy, skin antiseptic, personal bandages...

This is a list of essential medicines to help people isolated by floods take care of their health (both adults and children) with detailed instructions for safe and effective use.

It is expected that on September 14, the first bags of medicine will begin to be transported to the Department of Health of provinces and cities to promptly support people.

In addition, 49 hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City are ready with human resources to support 9 northern provinces affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi).
