Mr. Le Van Lan shared his views at the launch ceremony of the book " Nguyen Quang Bich - A Patriotic Intellectual, Leader of the Anti-French Resistance Movement in the Late 19th Century," organized by the National Political Publishing House on April 23.
Will Nguyen Quang Bich be the next Vietnamese person to be recognized worldwide ?
Mr. Le Van Lan affirmed that, with his position, character, qualities, and the fortitude of a patriotic intellectual and leader of the Can Vuong movement against the French, Nguyen Quang Bich possessed the qualities and attributes to be honored as a world cultural figure.
Nguyen Quang Bich was born in 1832, and in six years it will be the 200th anniversary of this patriot's birth. Mr. Lan said this is a very suitable occasion to prepare a dossier to submit to UNESCO to honor this cultural figure and to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nguyen Quang Bich's birth worldwide.
Following Nguyen Trai, Ho Chi Minh , Nguyen Du, Chu Van An, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Ho Xuan Huong, Le Huu Trac, and Le Quy Don, Nguyen Quang Bich deserves to be the next Vietnamese cultural figure to be recognized internationally through UNESCO's honor.
To give the dossier more weight, according to Mr. Lan, another book about Nguyen Quang Bich's literary and cultural career needs to be published.

Further clarify Nguyen Quang Bich's contributions to culture.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Duc Cuong - President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association - stated that Nguyen Quang Bich was a prominent figure of the late 19th century who was very active in the patriotic movement against the French in the late 19th century.
He was a multifaceted and talented figure, an upright official, and a patriot who loved his people throughout his life.
After the Hue court signed the treaty in 1884, Nguyen Quang Bich, along with many other patriotic leaders, continued the resistance against the French. He was beloved by the people.
Besides his patriotic activities, the cultural legacy he left behind is something to be proud of. He was the person entrusted by Emperor Tự Đức to assess and complete the "Khâm định Việt sử thông giám cương mực" (Imperial-approved Comprehensive History of Vietnam).
According to Mr. Cuong, it is necessary to more widely publicize the works of the patriot Nguyen Quang Bich, including his contributions to history, cultural studies, and literature.
This work requires the involvement of many researchers in history, literature, and other social studies.
Currently, streets named after Nguyen Quang Bich are located in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and several other localities.
According to Mr. Cuong, the localities where these patriots worked and carried out revolutionary activities should also have streets named after them, contributing to the education of the patriotic tradition and the indomitable spirit of our nation.
