Working together to implement the OCOP program.

Over the past period, thanks to the efforts of various sectors and levels in providing support, along with the self-motivation of the businesses, Nam Can district has achieved many positive results in implementing the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program. After being recognized as an OCOP product, businesses have benefited from many support programs and policies, creating conditions for their products to reach further and gain a foothold in the market.

The Hang Vinh - Nam Can Shrimp Cracker Cooperative was established in 2019. After a long period of effort, in 2023, the cooperative's product was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product . To enhance trade promotion activities, introduce and advertise products, and serve tourism and nearby consumers, the district provided the cooperative with 100 million VND in support. Along with matching funds, the cooperative completed and put into operation a point for introducing and selling OCOP products, including local specialties and typical rural industrial products. This is the first model supported by the district, aiming to diversify methods of connection, consumption, market development, and professional product promotion and introduction, providing quality products to consumers, especially potential customers.

Ms. Tran Thu Trang, Director of Hang Vinh - Nam Can Shrimp Cracker Cooperative, happily stated: “In the 5 years since its establishment, the cooperative has received a great deal of attention from the local authorities and various sectors. In particular, recently, the cooperative received support in establishing a product introduction and sales point, creating opportunities for tourists from all over to learn about the local OCOP products, as well as those of the cooperative. Looking ahead, I will open a store and create a small-scale production model inside so that customers can both purchase products and experience the cooperative's production process.”


The OCOP product showroom and sales point of Hang Vinh - Nam Can Shrimp Cracker Cooperative has just started operating.

Mr. Tran Thanh Nghi, Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Nam Can District, said: "In 2024, the district recognized an additional 7 OCOP 3-star products from 5 entities, bringing the total number to 18 OCOP-recognized products from 8 entities, including 6 4-star products and 12 3-star products. These products belong to the food group, including: shrimp crackers, mantis shrimp crackers, crab crackers, taro crackers, banana crackers, ecological dried shrimp, ecological crab meat, ecological shrimp patties, ecological forest tiger shrimp, ecological sea crab, shrimp floss, sea crab, and refined bird's nest products...".


To date, Nam Can district has 18 products recognized as OCOP products from 8 different entities. (In the photo: Dried shrimp products from Truong Hai establishment, Tam Giang Dong commune, participated in the 2024 OCOP product ranking assessment and were recognized as achieving 3-star standard).

Accordingly, entities granted certificates use the OCOP program logo and star rating displayed on their product packaging, and receive support for developing OCOP products according to current regulations. Currently, these entities are continuing to standardize their products, address shortcomings, and improve their products to upgrade their ratings.

Furthermore, the district authorities also facilitate the participation of businesses in events organized within the province and in OCOP product development activities organized by ministries, sectors, and regions; effectively implementing policies for businesses participating in the OCOP Program, such as regularly coordinating with provincial departments and agencies to support the printing of labels, tags, logos, and geographical indications on product packaging.

“For entities whose products have been recognized under the OCOP program, the unit will continue to advise the District People's Committee to guide these entities in implementing the product management regulations correctly. In addition, we will coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to encourage these entities to further expand production scale and improve product quality to meet market demands, while also creating conditions for higher star ratings and rankings,” Mr. Tran Thanh Nghi added.

In 2025, the district will continue to promote and train management and advisory staff at all levels to raise awareness about the OCOP Program, integrating communication through various forms so that people are aware, understand, and participate synchronously. In particular, the development of OCOP products will be incorporated into action programs and plans in all sectors and localities, considering it a key task for regular and long-term implementation. The district aims to develop 12 new products, while upgrading 6 products from 3 stars to 4 stars and from 4 stars to 5 stars, striving to have 1-2 products achieve 5-star status.
