The person attacked by the crocodile was Mr. Ha Kim Quang (born in 2003, residing in Ba Dui village, Bac Khanh Vinh commune, Khanh Hoa province). On the morning of October 8, Mr. Quang went to the bank of Cho river, the section flowing through Suoi Sau B bridge, Xuan Trung village, Dien Lam commune to fish. When he discovered the fish biting the hook, Mr. Quang pulled the fishing rod but the hook got stuck on a tree branch in the river, so he waded into the water to untangle it. Suddenly, a crocodile weighing more than 10kg jumped out from the riverbed and attacked his left foot and right arm. Fortunately, Mr. Quang was able to escape, run to the shore and then to Khanh Binh Medical Station for first aid and wound dressing by doctors.

Immediately after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Dien Lam commune directed the police forces, security and order teams, local military ... to urgently deploy measures to search for and capture the crocodile. However, due to heavy rains upstream in recent days, the water level on the Cho River rose high, flowed rapidly and the water was murky, so the search for the crocodile was unsuccessful. The People's Committee of Dien Lam commune warned people in the area to proactively prevent crocodile attacks. If any traces of a crocodile were discovered, they should immediately report to the local authorities for capture measures.
According to initial assessment, the crocodile that attacked Mr. Quang was raised at a local eco-tourism area, but escaped from its cage and into the Cho River.
