Sunny in the North, many provinces and cities still have widespread flooding

According to forecasts, the northern provinces will continue to have strong sunshine today, with temperatures above 33 degrees Celsius. However, widespread flooding is still occurring in many places such as Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh and Lang Son.

According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 12 hours, the flood on Cau River ( Bac Ninh ) peaked at 7.52m (11pm on October 9), 1.22m above level 3 and slowly receding. The flood on Trung River (Lang Son) and Thuong River (Bac Ninh) continues to recede.

Flooding is still occurring in many northern provinces.

Water levels at 1:00 a.m. on October 10 on the rivers were as follows: Cau River at Dap Cau station 7.52m, above BĐ3 1.22m; Thuong River at Cau Son station 17.70m, above BĐ3 1.70m; Phu Lang Thuong station 7.54m, above BĐ3 1.24m, 0.01m above the historical flood of 1986 (7.53m). On Trung River at Huu Lung station 22.11m, above BĐ3 3.11m, below the historical level of 1986 (22.54m) 0.43m.

It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, flood on Cau River at Dap Cau station will slowly decrease and be above level 3; flood on Thuong River at Cau Son station and Phu Lang Thuong station, and on Trung River at Huu Lung station will continue to decrease and be above level 3.

Meteorological experts warn that widespread flooding in the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, and Lang Son will continue for the next 2-3 days; there is a risk of riverbank and dyke erosion and landslides.

River floods inundate low-lying areas along the river, affecting activities such as waterway transport, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives and socio- economic activities.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue, the North is cloudy with showers and thunderstorms in some places; the South (South Quang Tri - Hue City) is cloudy with rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain.
