Hanoi Bus: Promoting the conversion of vehicles to use electricity and green energy

According to Transerco statistics, in the past 9 months, the unit's public passenger transport by bus has been basically stable. The Corporation has operated more than 2.43 million buses (reaching 96% of the plan), serving an estimated 162 million passengers. The two bus routes to Noi Bai Airport, No. 68 and 86, operated 24,139 buses.

The Corporation has maintained market share and stabilized operations for 44 re-bid bus routes, operating from April 1, 2025; adjusted the schedule of 22 routes, rationalized the routes of 14 bus routes and organized an additional branch route to expand the service area in Minh Chau commune; reviewed, restructured, and reasonably balanced the size of the vehicle fleet for 17 routes to improve operational efficiency in the new bidding cycle; replaced 16 vehicles and added spare vehicles for 8 bus routes, contributing to stabilizing operations and better meeting the service requirements of the routes.

The work of checking and monitoring service quality on bus routes continues to be strengthened, focusing on specialized inspections and handling violations of vehicle quality, driving discipline, service attitude, revenue violations, and parking violations," Transerco leaders assessed.

Regarding green conversion, the Corporation has put into operation 63 electric buses of all types to meet the pilot progress as required by the city; has put into operation 247 charging stations at 14 locations, and continues to research and expand business cooperation in charging stations and electric vehicle maintenance and repair stations on qualified land plots, serving the plan to convert vehicles using electricity and green energy according to the policies of the State and the city.

Carrying out the task assigned by Hanoi city regarding A80 service, Transerco organized 11 bus routes, with 5,085 additional buses from train stations, bus stations, airports and transit points of the city to the National Exhibition Center, serving the sightseeing needs of people and international tourists; temporarily suspended 4 routes, adjusted the routes of 9 bus routes to serve the travel needs of people during the days of A80 practice, preliminary and final rehearsal; transported free bus tickets for people and tourists during 4 holidays according to the city's policy.

The Parking Lot Exploitation Company has organized to receive and keep free of charge 32,650 cars and 7,200 motorbikes to serve people at parking lots serving National Day September 2, clearing 91 parking lots on the streets from Ring Road 1 to the city center to ensure traffic order and safety under the direction of the Hanoi Department of Construction and the People's Committees of the wards.

In the last 3 months of this year, Transerco will review and develop a roadmap for converting buses to electric and green energy buses according to the plan for 2026 and the following years; a green conversion plan for all types of transport businesses according to the roadmap for applying the city's low-emission zones; and prepare conditions to apply the electronic ticket card system on all bus routes.

The Corporation continues to coordinate with State management agencies on the work of building economic and technical standards for two types of small and medium electric buses; closely following the city's direction and instructions from departments and branches on financial mechanisms to support the conversion of vehicles using electricity and green energy.
