From December 23rd to 25th, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions led a delegation of influential figures to visit, exchange ideas, and learn from experiences in Gia Lai , Da Nang, Hue, and Quang Tri. These are localities with many effective approaches in promoting the role of influential figures and building national unity.

At each destination, the delegation spent time exchanging experiences with local authorities, meeting with influential figures, religious leaders, village elders, and community leaders to listen to everyday stories that contained many valuable lessons. These included experiences in propaganda and mobilization of the masses; participation in grassroots mediation; maintaining political security, order, and social safety; and livelihood models suitable to the conditions of each region, contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of ethnic minority people.

“Reputable individuals are a particularly important force at the grassroots level. Through this trip, the unit hopes that delegates will accumulate more practical experience, and then apply it flexibly and creatively to the specific conditions of each locality, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party and the State, and maintaining stability in ethnic and religious areas,” emphasized Mr. Danh Phuc, Director of the Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

One of the topics of interest to the delegates was the model of economic development linked to the preservation of traditional cultural identity. In Gia Lai province, the delegation explored economic models based on value chain linkages; in Hue City, they studied community-based tourism linked to traditional craft villages; and in Quang Tri province, they learned about many sustainable poverty reduction models based on local strengths that have yielded clear results. These success stories provided practical suggestions for the An Giang delegates in mobilizing people to change their production mindset and apply scientific and technological advancements to their lives.

Mr. Danh Hung, a respected figure in Giang Thanh commune, shared: “What I appreciate most is how localities are leveraging the role of village elders and respected individuals in mobilizing people to comply with policies and maintain unity within the community. Upon returning to my locality, I will try to apply what I have learned to continue doing a good job as a bridge between the government and the people.”

Beyond simply exploring economic models, the trip also provided delegates with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the role of culture and beliefs in the lives of ethnic minority communities. Venerable Danh Dổ, Abbot of Cây Trôm Pagoda in Giồng Riềng commune, expressed: “Every region we visited showed the close connection between religion and life. When respected religious leaders and officials work together with the government, mobilizing people to abide by the law and preserve their cultural identity becomes much easier.”

At the end of the journey, joy and excitement were evident on the faces of each delegate. The attention of the Party, the State, and the authorities at all levels, demonstrated through these practical trips, has further motivated influential figures to continue accompanying their localities in ethnic and religious affairs. More importantly, the knowledge and experience gained will be "sown" in every hamlet, village, and community of An Giang...
