At Thanh Tri Stadium on the afternoon of September 18th, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I faced a tough match against mid-table team Than Khoang San Vietnam in Round 4 of the 2025 National Women's Championship.
Despite being considered the underdog, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Corporation surprisingly took the lead. In the 18th minute, Nguyen Thi Van delivered an accurate pass to Nguyen Thi Truc Huong, who broke through and scored against Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I, opening the scoring.
For the remainder of the match, Huynh Nhu, Thuy Trang, and their teammates tried everything to find an equalizer but were unsuccessful. The team from Quang Ninh proactively retreated into a solid defense, ceding control of the game to the defending champions and maintaining the 1-0 lead until the end of the match.
This was the first defeat for Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I after 4 matches since the start of the tournament. This loss caused them to lose their top spot in the bảng to Hanoi Women's Club.
The capital city team secured a 2-0 victory against Ho Chi Minh City II Women's Club in the match played the day before, thus moving to the top of the standings with 10 points, one point ahead of Ho Chi Minh City I.
In Round 5 of the 2025 Women's National Championship, also the final match of the first leg, Ho Chi Minh City I Women's Club will face Hanoi to determine the top spot in the standings. This match will take place at 3:30 PM on September 22nd at the PVF Center Stadium ( Hung Yen ).
Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I is the most successful national women's football club in Vietnam with 14 titles. Hanoi ranks second with 10 championships.
