Stay close to the area and have a firm grasp of the situation.
Dakrong commune is a mountainous area with a large population of ethnic minorities, where some outdated customs and traditions still persist... Previously, the security and order situation in the area was fraught with complexities such as social disorder, land disputes, and social vices... Especially after the administrative unit merger, managing a large area with difficult transportation became a major challenge for the commune's police force.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Lam, Deputy Head of the Dakrong Commune Police, shared: “The biggest difficulty for our unit is the large area, the scattered population, and limited infrastructure... However, with a sense of responsibility, our officers and soldiers have quickly become familiar with the area and grasped the situation from the grassroots level. With the motto "respect the people, be close to the people, be there for them when they need us, when they face difficulties," the unit has implemented many practical solutions such as: Regularly going down to the villages to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of the people; closely coordinating with village elders, village heads, and influential people to disseminate legal information and encourage the people to comply well with the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws.”

Thanks to their dedication and approachability, the image of the police officer has become increasingly familiar, serving as a reliable support for the people of Dakrong border commune in maintaining security and order and building a new, civilized life. To combat crime, the commune police have increased night patrols, encouraged the surrender of weapons, and promptly mediated conflicts, preventing the emergence of "hot spots."
In addition, the unit also focuses on assisting people in obtaining citizen identification cards and electronic identification. These practical actions not only ensure security and order but also create a close bond and strengthen the people's trust in the local police force.
Mr. Ta Doc, a respected figure in Vung Kho village, said: “The commune police officers are very responsible, regularly coming to the village to chat and explain legal issues to the villagers. Whenever minor conflicts arise between families, the police officers are always present to mediate and analyze right and wrong, so the neighborly relations remain strong. Thanks to the awareness campaigns, people have voluntarily surrendered homemade weapons, no longer listen to bad influences, and work together to maintain peace in the village.”
Maintaining security is essential for sustainable poverty reduction.
The reality in Dakrong shows that wherever security and order are stable, people can work and produce with peace of mind. For the villagers, when the village is peaceful and orderly, their lives and property are protected. Only then can the State easily implement support policies for the people and work together to build a new rural area.
Thanks to the timely presence and intervention of the police force, theft and public disorder in the commune have significantly decreased. Locals have confidently invested capital in developing large-scale livestock farming, reforestation, and expanding farm-based economic models. The belief in a safe living environment has boosted the spirit of overcoming difficulties and striving to escape poverty among the people in this mountainous region.
Mr. Ho Van Son, a resident of Vung Kho village, happily stated: "Before, we were always worried about theft of anything we produced, but now it's different. The security and order in the village are always ensured. Thanks to the police officers' regular patrols and maintaining order, my family feels very secure investing in production and developing the economy."
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Lam added: “Maintaining security and order is the foundation for people to feel secure in their production and stabilize their lives. In the coming time, we will continue to promote our core role, effectively implement ‘skillful people mobilization’ models, and closely cooperate with the people to build an increasingly safe area, creating favorable conditions for people to develop the economy, contributing to the successful implementation of sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.”
The achievements in ensuring security and order have made a significant contribution to changing the face of the border commune, helping Dakrong to gradually develop its socio-economic conditions sustainably.
