Preserving the flame of tradition
The village of Ra Lu has undergone many changes today, with modern stilt houses emerging amidst the green mountains and forests. This transformation is thanks in no small part to the contributions of respected individuals, among whom Mr. Ho Xuan Tinh is a prime example.
Having served in the 559th Regiment, participating in carrying supplies and ammunition across the Truong Son mountain range, Mr. Tinh returned to civilian life and continued to dedicate himself to his homeland. For over 20 years, he has been trusted by the villagers and elected as a respected figure in the hamlet.
For Mr. Tinh, promoting the role of a respected figure is not only a responsibility but also a heartfelt aspiration. Determined to be a role model, to keep his word so that the people trust and follow him, he regularly studies the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations to stay informed, and then finds ways to disseminate information that are appropriate to the level of education of the ethnic minorities in the locality.

In implementing the new rural development program, Mr. Tinh actively encouraged villagers to change their production methods and apply scientific and technological advancements to alleviate poverty. However, the biggest challenge was the deeply ingrained customs and traditions. Undeterred by the difficulties, Mr. Tinh went "from street to street, knocking on every door" to persuade villagers to adopt civilized customs in weddings and funerals, and to eradicate superstition.
He explained to the villagers the harmful effects of littering and free-range livestock grazing on the environment and water sources. Thanks to Mr. Tinh's exemplary conduct and reputation, many outdated customs and traditions in the locality were gradually eliminated, and the face of Ra Lu village became increasingly brighter, greener, cleaner, and more beautiful.
In particular, Mr. Tinh has also excelled in mediation at the grassroots level. Over the years, he has successfully mediated many complex conflicts in the area in coordination with various organizations. For example, in 2025, Mr. Tinh successfully mediated a land dispute between three families who were siblings. By resolving the issue fairly and reasonably, he helped the family members realize the value of close family ties, live together harmoniously, and not let land disputes destroy their brotherhood.
Sharing his experience in propaganda and mobilization, Mr. Ho Xuan Tinh said: "To get people to listen, we must be close to them and understand their feelings. When mediating disputes, we must be objective, using compassion to win them over and reason to persuade them. When people trust the Party and the government, everything will be successful."
Spreading belief
Mr. Ho Xuan Tinh's dedication has earned him the trust and respect of many people in Ra Lu village. Ms. Ho Thi My Dip from Ra Lu village said: “Mr. Tinh is like a towering tree in our village. We always look to his way of life and work for guidance. Whenever we have problems, we always seek his advice. His exemplary behavior is a motivation for our younger generation to continue striving and working harder to contribute to the development of our homeland.”
Mr. Ho Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Huong Hiep commune, added: “Mr. Tinh’s contributions have significantly contributed to maintaining security and order and achieving socio-economic development goals in the locality. In the future, the commune will continue to promote exemplary individuals like Mr. Tinh, while also implementing effective policies to reward and provide timely information so that influential people can maximize their role in the community.”
Veteran Ho Xuan Tinh's dedication has been recognized by various levels of authority with numerous commendations and certificates for his outstanding achievements in mobilizing the masses and protecting national security.
