A special milestone in life: turning 18.

May arrives, bringing with it the brilliant sunshine of summer, signaling the farewell season for 12th-grade students. But for many outstanding students, this is an even more special and sacred time as they officially join the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the age of 18. Being admitted to the Party is not only a prestigious reward recognizing their hard work and dedication to learning and self-improvement, but also a proud milestone in their youth.

As an all-around excellent student throughout her three years of high school, and having won numerous awards in provincial-level academic competitions, Duong Hoang Khanh Ngoc, a student in class 12A4 at Le Quy Don High School, has demonstrated strong academic abilities. In addition, she regularly participates in extracurricular activities, showing a sense of responsibility and a positive attitude towards self-improvement.

Duong Hoang Khanh Ngoc emotionally shared: “The moment I stood under the Party flag and the national flag, reciting the oath to join the Party, still fills me with emotion and pride whenever I remember it. For me, this is the most brilliant milestone in my journey of growing up as a young person. I promise to continue to strive, study, and work harder in the road ahead.”

Sharing similar sentiments, Nguyen Dieu Khanh, a student in class 12A1 at Le Quy Don High School, said: “Joining the Party at the age of 18 is not only a great honor but also reminds me to live more responsibly towards myself, my family, and society. From now on, every action I take, every goal I pursue, will no longer be just for myself but must also be linked to the interests of the collective, the community, and the development of my homeland.”

When schools were the ideal breeding grounds for revolutionary ideals

The 2025-2026 school year marks a significant milestone in the Party building work of Le Quy Don High School, with 12 outstanding students having the honor of joining the Party. This is an impressive number, demonstrating a breakthrough and depth in the Party Committee's work of nurturing outstanding individuals. To achieve this result, the Party Committee and the School Board have implemented many comprehensive solutions over the years, linking Party development work with emulation movements for good teaching and good learning.

According to Phan Thi Le Thuong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Principal of Le Quy Don High School: “The school recognizes that developing Party members among students is not only a task of Party building but also a process of cultivating revolutionary ideals and inspiring a desire to contribute to the younger generation. Therefore, in addition to identifying and creating a pool of outstanding individuals, the school pays special attention to creating an environment for students to be trained through extracurricular activities, volunteer movements, and the "Three Good Students" program. Through these practical activities, students gradually mature in their awareness, character, and sense of responsibility towards the community and their homeland, thereby forming the right motivation to strive to become members of the Communist Party of Vietnam.”

After five years of implementing the "Party Member at 18" model, 687 outstanding students across the province have had the honor of joining the Party. This result not only reflects the effectiveness of Party development work in schools but also affirms the strong spread of revolutionary ideals among the younger generation. This is also the achievement of the persistent process of sowing seeds, discovering, nurturing, and helping these "red seeds" to grow under the roof of high schools.

In recent years, the development of Party members among high school students has been a top priority for the education sector, considered a key solution for building a generation of young people with strong political convictions, noble ideals, and a high sense of responsibility towards their homeland. As a result, Party development among students has made significant progress. The increasing number and quality of Party members each year clearly demonstrates the profound transformation in the awareness and actions of Party committees at all levels.

In particular, the "18-Year-Old Party Member" model implemented in high schools has become a bridge helping students to access the Party's training environment at an early age, contributing to rejuvenating the ranks of Party members and building a successor force with strong character, ideals, and a desire to contribute.

According to Phan Huu Huyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training: “Admitting young Party members, especially high school students who are 18 years old, is not only a well-deserved recognition of their efforts in studying and training, but also a significant qualitative shift in creating a source of successor cadres for the Party right from the grassroots level. To effectively implement the “18-Year-Old Party Member” model, in the coming time, the Department of Education and Training will continue to promote propaganda, disseminate information, and raise awareness among administrators, teachers, parents, and students about the work of educating and developing Party members in schools; strengthen education on revolutionary ideals, ethics, lifestyle, and awaken the aspiration to contribute to youth and teenagers.”

Becoming a Party member at the age of 18 is just the beginning of a long journey of dedication and growth. With the fiery enthusiasm of youth, today's generation of 18-year-old Party members will continue to write glorious chapters in history, bringing honor to their homeland and living up to the expectations of the Party and the people.
