Hong Kong news outlets revealed that Duan Wei Lun passed away on August 27th, reportedly due to kidney failure, at the age of 67. The news of the veteran actor's passing was also confirmed by his longtime friend, Lu Hui Guang.
Actor Lu later shared with the Oriental Daily that he knew Duan Weilun had some serious health problems and had suffered a stroke, but he was still very surprised by the news of his friend's passing. "I contacted him last week, but when I received a call from his family informing me that Duan Weilun had passed away, I was shocked, but that's life," he shared. He added that the actor was a good friend and that he would help his family with the funeral arrangements.

In an interview with ST Headline following the news of Duan Weilun's death, actor Qian Xiaohao said that although they had little contact, he knew his longtime colleague's health wasn't good. "It's so sad… I've lost another friend; several people have passed away in just one year. But at our age, this is unavoidable," the 62-year-old star confided.
As for Ren Dahua, although he hasn't directly collaborated with Duan Weilun, the veteran actor said he was still impressed by the actor's loyalty and integrity. "When I was a newcomer in the entertainment industry, he was already Jackie Chan's right-hand man, and he even proactively told me, 'If you need any help, just find me.' People like that are truly rare; he's a really good person," he recounted.
According to ST Headline , Doan Vi Luan's health has been declining for many years, and he has withdrawn to live a private life, rarely appearing in public. At an event more than a decade ago, he revealed that he was still involved in the car business and preparing to produce a film, but frankly stated that he would not return to the screen due to some underlying health conditions.
