Safely operating more than 25,000 flights during Lunar New Year

It is forecasted that in the coming days, the number of flights at major airports such as Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat will continue to increase due to high travel demand after the Tet holiday.


Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) said: During the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday (from January 25 to February 3), VATM successfully operated 25,328 flights.

Notably, on January 25 (ie 26th of Tet), the unit operated a record number of flights, reaching 3,005 flights.

Major international airports such as Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai and Da Nang have seen a sharp increase in the number of take-offs and landings during the 2025 Lunar New Year.

On the last day of the Tet holiday, major international airports such as Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai and Da Nang welcomed a sharp increase in the number of takeoffs and landings.

Of which, at Tan Son Nhat, the number of flights reached 978 (February 2, the 5th day of Tet), Noi Bai welcomed 570 (February 2) flights and Da Nang recorded 269 (February 2) flights.

With close coordination between aviation units, meteorological agencies and functional agencies, flight operations during Tet were stable and safe.

The information, navigation and flight monitoring systems are maintained stably and smoothly, contributing significantly to reducing the situation of aircraft having to wait at airports with high flight density.

In addition to ensuring flight operations, security and safety at airports during Tet are also ensured. The forces on duty have strictly implemented protection, patrolling, guarding, and maintaining labor discipline, ensuring order and safety at agencies and units.

It is forecasted that in the following days, the number of flights at major airports such as Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat will continue to increase due to people's travel needs after the Tet holiday.

VATM representatives affirmed that they will continue to ensure safety and stability for flights during the peak Tet holiday.
