Dinh Bac's hat-trick against Song Lam Nghe An on the evening of April 26th in Round 20 of the V-League 2025-2026 brought his total number of goals for Hanoi Police FC this season to 7. This is his first hat-trick in his professional career.
Excluding Do Hoang Hen (9 goals), Dinh Bac is the top-scoring Vietnamese player in the V-League at this time. Other strikers like Viet Cuong, Gia Hung, Tuan Hai, and Tien Linh are far behind Dinh Bac with only 3-4 goals each.
That's a very impressive number for a player who's only just turned 22 like Dinh Bac. For young players, especially forwards, the V-League is always the most challenging test, bringing together the best players from across the country, plus foreign players. This is the benchmark and tool to verify the abilities of players who have just played for the youth national teams. Many "rising stars" who don't perform well in the V-League don't make it to the Vietnamese national team when they mature.
While many strikers of his generation were struggling to find a place in professional teams, Dinh Bac had already proven his abilities at Hanoi Police FC. He earned the trust of coach Alexandre Polking, who gave him opportunities to play in 18 out of 20 matches this season.
In response to Coach Polking's patience, after a "goal drought" period from August 2025 to March 2026, Dinh Bac only needed 4 matches in April to make his mark.
He scored seven goals in a row, including two against Da Nang , one each against PVF-CAND and Ho Chi Minh City Police, before scoring a hat-trick against Song Lam Nghe An.
Dinh Bac's brilliant form has helped Hanoi Police FC overcome the absence of last season's top scorer, Alan Grafite (currently injured). The police team maintains its number one position in the standings, steadily progressing towards the V-League championship this season with a safe lead over the chasing teams.
Not only has Dinh Bac improved professionally, but he has also shown maturity in his thinking and way of life. When scoring against Song Lam Nghe An , Dinh Bac did not celebrate wildly, even though this was the club that had rejected him in the early years of his career.
At the end of the match, Dinh Bac went straight to the SLNA area and gave coach Van Sy Son a warm hug. He showed his respect for his teacher, even though Coach Son had previously been extremely strict with him.
Having previously dismissed Dinh Bac from the first team (Quang Nam) and criticized him for having an inflated sense of self-worth, Coach Van Sy Son has now changed his opinion of Dinh Bac. Coach Son said: "Dinh Bac has proven his inherent qualities. I congratulate him and believe he will maintain his focus, continue to improve himself, and develop in the right direction."
