Dinh Hien Anh shows off her beauty in a traditional Vietnamese ao dai dress.

During a business trip to Japan, Dinh Hien Anh wore a classic ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) from previous decades and took photos at several famous landmarks in Kyoto, hoping to spread the beauty of Vietnamese attire to international friends. While strolling around, many tourists admired and praised the outfit the singer was wearing. The ao dai, with its distinctly ancient style, featured a long skirt extending past the knees, wide sleeves, and was worn with white trousers and a headscarf.

Dinh Hien Anh shared that from the moment she entered the arts and pursued folk music, she has researched Vietnamese clothing through different historical periods. “Born and raised in a traditional family in Nghe An province, I have loved national culture since I was young. From the way I live to my choice of music… everything comes from my heart. Therefore, when performing, I always wear traditional ao dai from previous decades or modernized dresses with materials and patterns that are distinctly Eastern. Not only because it suits the music, but also because I feel most feminine and gentle in those outfits,” she said.

Upon arriving at the ancient Chion-in Temple (Kyoto), Dinh Hien Anh donned a dazzling golden traditional dress with a long train that swept the ground and wide, flared sleeves.

To exude an elegant and authoritative aura, the singer also paired her outfit with pearl jewelry, hairpins, and a headscarf.

"I'm just one of millions of people who love national culture and are trying to preserve traditional beauty in modern life. And I'm happy that more and more young people are interested in Vietnamese traditional clothing. This shows that they are not superficial, but deeply appreciate the old values ​​of so many generations of their ancestors," she confided.

Besides traditional costumes, Dinh Hien Anh's wardrobe contains over 100 ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) sets, ranging from classic styles to modern designs in various colors and materials. She often commissions ao dai designers to have them custom-made to her measurements. Among them, the 1930s ao dai design is her favorite because it suits many occasions: performances, events, strolling around town, or attending religious ceremonies… The singer owns more than 10 1930s ao dai in 10 different colors.

Depending on the program she participates in, Dinh Hien Anh will choose the appropriate colors and mix them with suitable jewelry.

Previously, during many visits to Hue for performances or family vacations , Dinh Hien Anh also wore traditional costumes for commemorative photos. Another special thing about Dinh Hien Anh is that she has never dyed her hair, always keeping it black to suit the image she is pursuing in the folk music genre.
