According to the Department of PrimaryEducation , Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province, in July 2025, in the communes of Lac Duong, Duc Trong, Don Duong, Bao Lam, Da Huoai, Da Teh, Cat Tien and Cam Ly ward - Da Lat, nearly 7,100 6-year-old ethnic minority children participated in Vietnamese language classes before entering grade 1 in the 2025-2026 school year.

The Vietnamese language class for 6-year-old ethnic minority children before entering grade 1 is part of the Project "Enhancing Vietnamese for preschool children and primary school students in ethnic minority areas in the period 2016 - 2020, with a vision to 2025" of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province (old).

This activity not only helps children prepare their language skills to enter first grade, but also contributes to preserving the language, writing and traditional culture of ethnic minorities.

Under the guidance of teachers, students become familiar with Vietnamese through games, simple communication sentences, listening - speaking - writing practice, using textbooks, notebooks, small boards... Outside of class, students also participate in many collective activities, creating joy in going to school, forming a learning routine and confidently communicating with teachers and friends.

The program to teach Vietnamese to 6-year-old ethnic minority children before entering grade 1 was implemented for 1 month, from July 1 to 31, with the participation of 149 teachers at 61 primary schools, organized into 149 classes for a total of 7,033 children (achieving a 99.8% enrollment rate).

Many parents expressed their agreement and excitement when their children were able to attend Vietnamese classes before entering first grade. The fact that children can go to school to study and play safely and healthily during the summer not only helps them prepare well in terms of mentality and learning skills, but also creates conditions for parents to work with peace of mind.

According to the Lam Dong Department of Education and Training, organizing Vietnamese language teaching for 6-year-old ethnic minority children before entering grade 1 is an important solution to contribute to improving the quality of universal primary education, effectively implementing the 2018 General Education Program; at the same time, gradually narrowing the gap in language proficiency between ethnic minority students and Kinh students, towards a fair and comprehensive education in Lam Dong province.
