Leveraging unique culinary differences and enhancing their value not only contributes to increasing the attractiveness of the destination but also opens up a sustainable path for the city's tourism industry.
Elevating the destination's status
In recent years, the city's tourism industry has organized many promotional activities, bringing the city's cuisine closer to tourists. One of the highlights of this summer is the Danang Food Tour Festival 2026, taking place from May 20th to 24th, 2026 at the East Sea Park, Tam Thanh Beach Square, and several other locations in the city.
According to information from the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aiming to make Da Nang a leading culinary destination in the region, this year's festival has expanded in scale, with investments including over 100 stalls, 70 street food vendors, and a multi-sensory music festival on the beachfront.
Visitors not only enjoy but also directly "touch," "feel," and "live" with the cuisine through a series of interactive activities that recreate the culinary landscape of Quang Nam province, from traditional to modern. Activities such as participating in food preparation, experiencing traditional crafts, and engaging in multi-sensory interactions will create a close connection, making cuisine a bridge between the past and the present.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city's tourism industry is promoting connectivity and digital transformation in the culinary and tourism sectors, with Shopeefood as a technology partner.
For the first time, the Da Nang food map – Shopeefood – has been launched, helping tourists conveniently explore, choose, and experience culinary destinations throughout the year. The combination of digital technology and traditional cuisine contributes to a convenient experience, aligning with new consumer trends, while promoting digital transformation in the tourism industry and spreading the culinary values of Quang Nam province, aiming to build Da Nang into a smart and distinctive destination.

In addition, the city's tourism industry is collaborating with associations and businesses to develop five culinary tours (to be implemented from May to December 2026), including: Da Nang food tour, Hoi An - My Son food tour, Dien Ban food tour, Tam Ky food tour, and Dai Loc food tour. This series of tours aims to create authentic experiences, where each dish is not only a flavor but also a story about the life, culture, and people of the local area.
Exploiting culinary value
According to culinary expert Tran Van Thang, Da Nang's cuisine is not just about familiar local dishes, but also a fusion of regional cuisines from Central Vietnam and international influences, creating a diverse and modern image. The fact that some restaurants in Da Nang have been honored by the Michelin Guide is also a significant boost to product development. Each culinary tour should be structured as a storytelling journey about the origins and unique characteristics of each dish, thereby spreading local cultural values.
Along with promoting local values, the application of technology is considered a crucial solution to enhance the effectiveness of promotion and management. Currently, relevant units are collaborating to build a digital food map, which helps systematize reputable destinations, making it easier for tourists to search and choose.
Food establishments are encouraged to standardize service procedures, train staff and chefs to be skilled and knowledgeable about the dishes to introduce to tourists. In particular, food safety and hygiene are prioritized through "clean and delicious" commitment programs, contributing to a positive impression for tourists participating in food tours.
The tours are built upon the existing resources of Da Nang and the surrounding area, linking them into a continuous chain of experiences that highlight the culinary identity of Quang Nam province, enhance the attractiveness of the destination, extend the length of stay, and increase tourist spending.

According to Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, with its position as a national-level tourism center, Da Nang needs to place cuisine in its core product group to create a unique identity. Not only does it possess a rich system of characteristic dishes of Quang Nam province, but the city also brings together many international cuisines, creating a high degree of "internationalization" for the destination. This is a favorable condition for developing diverse culinary tourism products to meet the increasingly high demands of tourists.
The Da Nang Tourism Association encourages hotels, restaurants, and destinations to integrate local cultural elements into culinary experiences. Simultaneously, travel businesses are encouraged to strengthen coordination with relevant organizations to develop in-depth tour programs, connecting destinations into complete itineraries.
"The goal is to create a synchronized culinary tourism ecosystem, with both high-quality local products and interconnected travel programs, helping tourists proactively access and experience everything fully," Mr. Dung shared.
