After concluding their journey at Indian Wells, the focus of the tennis world shifted to the Miami Open – the next destination for big names to accumulate points on the ATP rankings.
However, fans received unwelcome news when the organizers confirmed that legend Novak Djokovic would not be participating in this year's tournament due to a right shoulder injury (March 16).
The absence of Novak Djokovic is seen as a major loss for the tournament, where he has won the title six times in its history.
Last season, the Serbian player reached the final before losing to the younger Jakub Mensik.
Not being able to participate this year means Nole will officially lose 650 points in the ATP rankings, putting considerable pressure on his position among the top seeds at upcoming major tournaments.
Although rankings may no longer be Djokovic's top priority in the later stages of his career, maintaining a position in the top four remains extremely important.
This allows him to secure favorable draws and avoid early encounters with formidable opponents like Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner in Grand Slam tournaments.
Many sources indicate that Djokovic will use this break to fully treat his shoulder injury and prepare for the Monte-Carlo Masters tournament.
