Novak Djokovic faced Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals of the 2025 US Open in a dramatic match. In the very first set, the Serbian player broke his opponent's serve early in the second game.
Fritz immediately had a chance to break back but missed, before continuing to put immense pressure on Djokovic in the deciding service game. After 14 minutes of breathtaking back-and-forth play, Nole held firm and closed out the opening set with a 6-3 victory.

In the second set, Fritz created many opportunities but failed to capitalize on them. Djokovic bravely defended his serve, even securing a break in game 7. Although the number 4 seed managed to equalize with a break in game 10, he made too many unforced errors and lost his advantage shortly after, closing out the second set with a 5-7 defeat.
In the third set, the match was evenly balanced until a surprise occurred: Djokovic was psychologically affected by the crowd and lost his serve. Seizing the opportunity, Fritz served confidently and won 6-3, narrowing the gap.

However, the home player's hopes ended in the fourth set when he unexpectedly faltered in game 10, committing a disastrous double fault and handing the victory to his more experienced opponent.
Ultimately, Djokovic defeated Fritz 3-1, advancing to the semi-finals, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated match.

The quarterfinal victory helped the 38-year-old reach the semifinals of all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single year for the seventh time. Furthermore, Nole equaled Jimmy Connors' record of 14 US Open semifinal appearances.
