Farmers step out of the fields, temporarily shake off the mud and straw, put on the clothes of the puppets and transform into artistic images and recreate the glorious and glorious days of their ancestors from thousands of years ago. That is the folk dance of Xuan Pha Tro Dance, one of the typical performances, marking the heroic past of the nation through the dynasties in feudal history, in Xuan Pha village, Xuan Truong commune, Tho Xuan ( Thanh Hoa ). Xuan Pha Tro is considered not only unique, special but also "one of a kind" in Thanh Hoa .

Join author Phan Huy Thiep in recreating Xuan Pha Dance through the photo album: "Unique Xuan Pha Dance in Thanh Hoa". The work was submitted to the Photo and Video contest Happy Vietnam , organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Xuan Pha is also considered a performance that combines the characteristics of play, song, and dance. The highlight of Xuan Pha art is that it always respects the dance content, and all dances have strict rules.

Each play in the whole system has a clear dance. The dance rules are also strictly regulated and use many movements such as hand dances, foot dances, dances with props (flags, fans, swords, spears, etc.). In particular, the dances in Xuan Pha use shoulder jerks, head shakes, full body dances, small jumps, etc., which are rare phenomena in the history of human dance development.

Xuan Pha dance originated from the Le Dynasty. It started as a dance in the royal court, then was taught to the people. Xuan Pha dance carries the colors of 5 neighboring countries bringing gifts to the Le Dynasty with 5 dances: Hoa Lang, Chiem Thanh, Tu Huan (Luc Hon Nhung), Ai Lao and Ngo Quoc. Xuan Pha dance is a synthesis of art forms: Dance, singing, music and performance costumes creating an extremely unique and special dance and singing system. The uniqueness of Xuan Pha dance is that 3/5 of the dances have masks worn.

Xuan Pha Play is a folk performance depicting the scene of the five directions coming to pay homage, bringing special dance and song performances of neighboring countries to congratulate the Emperor of ancient Vietnam. According to researchers, Xuan Pha Play is considered a dance containing many mysterious information of the Vietnamese people in the past, having many aspects related to the history of the nation and playing an important role in the treasure trove of Vietnamese dance and music performances.

Currently, the origin of Tro Xuan Pha is still an unsolved mystery in the folklore research community. But according to artisan Bui Van Hung (Xuan Truong commune, Tho Xuan, Thanh Hoa), who plays a significant role in preserving and conserving the Tro Xuan Pha heritage, the people of Xuan Pha village have passed down the origin of this performance since the Dinh Dynasty (968 - 980).
